I've run WD/Seagate for years but decided to give Toshiba a try. I have two of these drives being used in a Raid 1 configuration and they have performed well over time, no issues with the drives, they just work as expected. Only minor complaint is they are kind of noisy which others here have commented on. I also have Seagate Exos enterprise drives which should be nosier than this Toshiba but they sound quieter compared to this drive.

Got it half full so far. Had it for a year and no problems yet. Pretty good value for storing movies and tv.

These are great drives. Have been using them steady for about 6 months in a NAS with no issues. They do make a bit more noise than other drives I own but nothing very noticeable.

These are good drives if you don't mind a little chatter. For me, the sound is comforting. It lets me know the drive is working. I don't mind it. I have an old one that has outlasted so many of my Seagate and WD drives that lately I've been buying more and more Toshiba drives. The test of time is the biggest factor for me. If hearing the drive is a concern then perhaps mechanical drives are not the best choice for the buy who wishes for absolute silence. I don't recommend this drive for gaming. People should not game on mechanical hard drives. What's good about this drive is that it is CMR, which is one of it's best selling features. SMR drives may be cheaper but it has been my experience that they hardly last as long Conventional Magnetic Recording devices.

Great price for the amount of storage and speed you get. I'm running two in RAID and get near SSD speeds. Only downside is they are somewhat loud when doing operations.Great for keeping steam games or files as the speed is perfect for game loading.

This is the second Toshiba drive I have bought (first was a 3TB). Got this 4TB for my fathers PC and I will probably last him for many years. I'm still using the 3TB version in my PC for a backup drive and it has worked great for years. For a mechanical hard drive it is pretty quite and the 256MB cache makes it write fast when saving files.

I ditched western digital drives after they snuck dismally performing SMR tech into their product lines and couldn't be happier. Nine months in and the Toshiba drive has been perfect. Sounds exactly like what you would expect a fast drive to sound like.

I haven't been a Toshiba drive user before, so I though I'd give them a try after reading an online review. I bought two of the updated Toshiba X300 4TB, the main difference from the previous 2019 version of the drive is that the memory buffer has increase from 128MB to 256MB, if you get the 14TB or over version, the buffer is 512MB. Surprisingly, the drives only have a 2 year warranty, I would have like the drives to have a longer warranty like the WD drives have. The was no instruction in the box, so for new users, please look up how to install new hard disks in your computer and copy data across if you need to.I have an Samsung SSD as the boot disk and used the Toshiba drives for games storage, film back up etc. I partitioned both drives, to 2TB each, the reason here was to removed 4 older 2TB drives and just have two drives instead of 4 drives. I smoothly transfered all the data across over the course of two days as I wasn't in a rush to do this. The drives are quicker and quieter, please make sure to tighted the drive retaing screws, there is nothing more annoying than drive vibration and noise from insecure drives. After benchmarking (CrystalDiskMark) and running games directly from the drive, as a new user of Toshiba drives I'm impressed. I await to test them long term and see how they do, but at the moment, I'm very happy with the drives.Yashi
