Seagate may not have the panache that WD has, but they are every bit as good. These have fairly high temperature tolerances too, as my installation isn't ideal from a temperature standpoint. Happy with the price, too. Recommend.

After trying to use SATA drives for a storage array with many being SMR as it would turn out later when people fessed up, I realized how ridiculous it was that I was using a SAS controller for cheap, as it would turn out, SMR SATA drives based on needing enough interfaces, so I switched to SAS Enterprise drives and the performance difference alone is very noticeable and the fact that I am now using drives meant to be used continuously and none of the filesystem errors SMR drives cause continuously. The right tool for the job applies here.So far, all of the drives have worked perfectly and have never reallocated sectors nor shown any warnings. They pass SMART with flying colors.

The only warning in the description was "SAS" hidden in among the rest of the part number/name.There was no cautionary note that it is NOT SATA or SATA-3 compatible.NOT happy. Have to buy additional cards to power it AND get additional cables. I guess this is the type of HD that IT departments use to swap out backup HD units in 5 seconds (pull one out, push the next in, continue backup process), but I NEVER would have thought that as "internal HD" operations.

I bought these by accident. After installing them in my Synology NAS, it said "oops, something is wrong, please contact support". What? After contacting Synology for help, they said "what kind of drive is it" - then I realized - it's SAS! Oops. Doesn't work in SATA nas. Look carefully at the description, the interface is the most important spec.Amazon was awesome, as usual, taking them back, and getting me the right drives tout de' suite! Thanks amazon.
