At 1st I was a little skeptical just based on the price of this kit but others have rated it pretty well so I gave it a shot. Installed in less than 15 min. No complaints so far. Works really well. Even attracted a crowd at the local Mazda dealer. Will keep an eye on it and update this review if any issues occur. Fitis perfect.

The kit is pretty easy to install. Like another buyer mentioned, I installed mine with the balls facing the hoods latch so I could get a bit more height and eliminate the binding issue I was having with them facing towards the windshield(they were hitting the hood bolts when closing the hood so rather than risk damaging or bending things I opted to flip the brackets)To those wondering if these extend at full force, worry not. They do have a damper in the for the last few inches of the stroke.

GOOD: Struts seem to be working fine for now making opening/holding the hood much more easy, and the struts provide more room and easier access if servicing engine, as the OEM prop rod is no longer in the way. BAD: One of the spring clips in the female end of the ball socket was much too tight and the clip so the ball end could not be attached. I had to bend the spring clip open more to allow the male end of the ball socket to attach. Also, while the installation was fairly straightforward (due to another reviewer providing detailed instructions with pictures), would it really be too much to ask that the manufacturer include a one page installation instruction sheet?

A little odd the 2021 Signature cx5 doesn’t come with these installed our old 2010 Camry did. Anyway this kit was way easier to install than I thought (I am not skilled) it is customized to the cx5 and hopefully lasts a long time. These gas shocks always give out at some point. In any case leave the rod you have it now and ur set.

Installed on a current model Mazda CX-5 to keep the hood open and to not fumble around with the prop. Yes, instructions are needed, but there are plenty of DIY videos online. Took 20 minutes. Good overall quality and hardware is on the heavy-duty side (not cheap metal). Would buy again.

Don't understand why car manufacturer's don't put these in cars when you by them. The hood on my Mazda CX-5 weighs a ton - extremely heavy to open. This productdoes the job perfectly. Now my Hood can be open with ease. No more straining.Extremely easy to install. Great product.

This kit is a great value and only took about 20 mins to install on my CX-5 GTR. A long 12 mm socket took care of most of the process:- Install the ball brackets to the hood mounts -- as another reviewer stated, make sure to position with the ball oriented toward the end of the hood, not toward the windshield, and facing in. To keep the brackets centered, I wedged the end of a wrench between them while tightening (pictured, circled in red).-Install the chrome ball bolts (not sure what they're actually called, sue me) to the holes in the engine compartment as pictured. The kit provides a long metal strip wrapped in electrical tape on both ends, with a forked nut attached to each end. Bending the strip if necessary, insert one end into the larger hole until you can thread the ball bolt in from above, then tighten with the 12mm. When done, simply pull on the metal strip until the electrical tape releases, leaving behind the forked nut -- as pictured, what's left may still be visible, this is fine. Do the same for the other side.-Attach the struts -- Start with the cylinder end, to the hood bracket first. Just push it on until it 'pops'. Then attach the other end to the chrome ball. (Note: It may be necessary to release the prop rod and push the hood up as far as it will go to complete this step.) The hood will easily be held up by one rod, which will allow you to install the other with ease. And you. Are. Done. That being said, I'm very pleased with how easy this kit made the install, and the struts themselves seem plenty powerful. Time will tell if they will last, as some struts tend to go out in months, others in years. Will update when that happens.

23-Aug-2022 I installed the struts and they do now compress but very HARD! Also i suggest you should make upper bracket bigger with 2 bolts to hold better and include bigger metal washer and Spring washer as well. It may cost few cents more but will be better product and most would not mind paying extra $. Give option to buy. Buyer should use bigger washers and Spring washer to bolt to fenders as supplied washer very small and flimsy. Time will tell how long they will hold up. I could not compress struts with hand and floor. Had to install first. They are very stiff. I will leave my hood rod in place as struts can fail in winter after a few years and don't want to be stuck hold the hood open manually. Not bad for the money, go ahead and buy.

Got these fast as they were in stock in Canada. They work as advertised on my 2019 CX5 and would have been easy to install if I was paying attention to which hole to use. Mazda has 3 holes, 1 big one to fit the nut through and 2 smaller ones. You want the one with the indent as opposed to the one I used as I wasn't paying attention. Overall very happy and will see how long the struts last.Notes:1. Always check which hole before starting (should be closest to the hing hole)2. If your unscrewing the ball stud, place a vise grip on the nut install piece (not sure what its called). If it unscrews but won't come out then grab some pliers and pull up. This will knock the nut, and will fall into the rail. Fear not it will land inside the tube where the holes are. Use a magnetic screwdriver or metal and it will grab the nut. Place the nut back into the install piece and put in right hole... lol

Installed these on my 2021 CX-5 Signature. Very straight forward, but I still researched the install on YouTube as the nut/bolt mounting solution for the lower pivot points were a bit confusing at first glance, the videos on YouTube cleared that up pretty quickly. It would be nice if the seller included some basic written instructions to explain things. The install took about 5-10 mins total. The struts seem very strong but as time and useage goes on we'll see how durable they are long term. A must have minor "upgrade" for anyone who works on their own vehicle and/or does their own maintenance. Wish these came like this from the factory!
