Direct replacement for an older set of StrongArm 4502. All you need is a good flat blade mechanical screwdriver to remove the metal clip while you clamp down the other shock with a vise grip pliers and towel. This is to keep it in place during replacement process. You can tell the new ones push up the trunk higher with more force. Would buy again if need to.In most cases, YOU DO NOT NEED TO REPLACE THE BALL PIVOTS like some other reviewers have mentioned.

These were great, did the job – just what I needed. The old OEM struts were starting to fail, trunk lid was coming down/hitting me on the head. These weren’t too difficult to install, addressed the need/issue right away.

These are 120lb of force each. They fit my Hyundai Elantra gt hatchback, just need a small sharp screwdriver and the swap is easy. Went from no help to lifting the gate with one finger.

Extremely easy to install. Just need a 12mm open end wrench to bolt of the ball-end bolts to the trunk and lid. The strut snaps on EASILY and SECURELY to the bolts with a satisfying 'click.'You can easily remove the strut with a skinny flathead screwdriver by prying off a metal clip that holds the strut to the ball-end bolt. This does not damage the clip and can be reinstalled. The holding power of the trunk lid is PLENTY. One strut alone can hold open my trunk lid. This is a much more convenient and sturdy option compared to my OEM trunk-lid struts. Highly recommend. Going to get a set to replace the worn out struts on my Element too.
