These work great!

I do not enjoy posting bad reviews but one is warranted in this case, especially as getting hit in the head by a car rear door is painful. I put these on a Mazda hatchback, they fit well and worked OK for about 10 days after which they leaked and lost all pressure, resulting in a painful car door to head incident. A very poor product and an unusually bad return policy. Therefore, I would suggest Amazon buyers AVOID this product.

Though they were easy to swap and seemed to fit well, the force required to close the hatch Protege5 is just astronomical. There is no way my wife can close the hatch by herself and I struggle with it myself and i'm not a small guy. Will be chucking these once I find a better replacement.

a tad still at first, but I am sure they will break in on my 2002 Mazda Protege5.

My vehicle is a 2002 Mazda Protege5.If you are mechanically inclined, installation is fairly simple. My only advice here is to do one side at a time. In my case, I had a bad strut on my driver's side, so I started with that one. The old strut that still functioned properly on the passenger's side had enough pressure to hold the hatch on its own.Another reviewer mentioned how stiff these struts are, and he wasn't kidding! I often have to use both hands to close my hatch now, but I'm not complaining.
