Tested this with all my soil pots and the pH needle didn't move beyond 7-8 (the max it measures). Tested it with two types of vinegar solutions - that my paper pH meter had as 2-3, and the meter was again fully alkaline. Ergo, it's useless

All good. Great 3 in 1 function. Not sure how accurate thing are though. Was able to tell between pots of various soil wetness. Not sure if your meant to leave it in though, did it as a test and it does slowly show the soil drying out but then when I watered the pot it didn't seem to become 'wetter'. Needle just stayed. I do have to say I've only been play with it for a few days.

i like this because of the solar light. no batteries to replace unless you want to down the road. solar panels do need a battery to hold the reserve. you can turn it in and off.this works well.do not leave this in the soil. you must remove it of the tip will collect gunk and it wont read out properly. you can use a bit if sand paper to clear away the gunk but eventually it will wear down and you will need a new one. i prefer having one forever than buy over and over and over again. im a big reduce reuse recycle kind of person since the 80’s.

The QUMOX 3-in-1 Soil PH Meter is a pretty affordable tool for basic plant care. I checked it out, and the moisture detection works well – it gives you quick, accurate readings. This is super handy for knowing when your indoor plants need a drink. The light detector, though, wasn't as great. You need really bright light for it to even budge. I didn't test the pH thingy. For what I mainly use it for – checking if plants need water – it does the job, and I'm happy with it. At around $12, it's a decent deal if you're mostly concerned about soil moisture.
