Very affordable, and a no-brainer choice for upgrading security. Standard residential door hardware isn't very sturdy, and can make a door easy to force open with a blow that cracks the door jamb. You will have to enlarge the mortise to install this, but there are lots ov youtube videos that show simple steps for doing that. This is s good sturdy piece of hardware that works well, but i knocked off a review star because it really should come with longer and stronger screws. eellsplitting the

Installation requires a wood chisel, hammer, drill and screwdriver. I didn't use the included screws, instead I replaced them with something much stronger from the local hardware store. For 90 minutes of your time you'll have a greatly reinforced door.

Real good strike. Decently thick metal, good finish, correct length long screws, and a great price right now at $3.00.It is longer than most other strikes, so you will probably need to chisel out the frame a little more than you're used to. Also the depth is fixed, so you might need to adjust that too.

This is a great and recommended by many security professionals as a strengthening measure for the door / frame interface. Drill out your solid wood door frame only to the specific size required so that this is almost a tight fit then mount with graded stainless 3" wood screws. and as long as you have a high quality deadbolt lock and solid front door, no one is breaching through this. Great product.

Compare to the standard strike plate included with door lever or deadbolt, this security strike box provide a lot more safety. Not only your latch or deadbolt now sits in a metal box, which offers more strength behind the door jamb, but you can use two 3.5-in screws to fix the box itself to the 2x4 or 2x6 or what ever rough you have behind the door jamb.We have installed a dozen of those strike boxes in our house. They provide real extra security.Please note that for real extra security, after installing this strike box, you need to reinforce your door jamb with a steel plate.Note : If you can put your hands on a Medeco strike box (like the one included with their Maxum deadbolt), the design is even better in regards of how the two long security screws go in the back of the strike box.If you liked my review please hit the "HELPFUL" button. The weakest point in your door tends to be the strike plate. I bought this strike plate on the recommendation of the Wirecutter web site.The Good Parts* Adds a lot more strength than a lot of the strike plates that come with deadbolts (looking at you, Kwikset/Weiser)* Comes with long screws* Screw hole locations don't line up with your old holes, which means you don't reuse those holes, which may have already been weakened from wear* Has screw holes in its "pocket" for additional strength* A very inexpensive upgrade to your door securityCould Be Better* The screws could still be longer* You will probably need to carve out a larger hole to fit the strike plate's "pocket", which is a bit of work if you're not handy* Would be nice if it came in a silver color

Solid build and well reviewed. Comes with 2" screws but I installed it with 3" screws for better security. Given the size of the strike box and plate, I found installation required a great deal of chiseling and mortising- a fair amount of wood needed to be removed to accommodate the strike box and plate.
