Fixed a misaligned and un-secured garage door caused by an aging home with a concrete foundation poured onto alluvial clay (a former seasonal lake / wetland - undisclosed). The soil at this site swells when wet in the winter and shrinks when dry in the summer, which results in about 1/4 inch movement of door frames and doors over a few years. This is enough to misalign normal door latches, and prevent them from seating. This simple hardware provides added room vertically to accommodate the movement. My house will soon be fully secure and I can get onto other maintenance projects...

How not to design a product meant to repair old doors which fit too tight already.Do not make the repair part thicker than standard door strikers! This adjustable door striker is about 1/3 to 1/2 inch thicker than all the strikers in my house.Since this door striker uses three pieces (namely the part with the oval slots which allows moving that piece which the latch fits into, and the second and third pieces which are the parts with round hold that go on top of the bottom triker which can be slid back amd forth as need before tightening every thing down) all of the pieces could be half a thick as they are and if made of steel, should be nearly as strong as the original which is necessary for exterior doors. The designers failed to factor the thickness as a design parameter and should be fired.

These work great especially for older wooden doors that swell and contract from heat, cold, and humidity changes. When my door gets swollen from the heat/humidity and won't shut I can move it towards the inside of the house a little and get it to close like normal. When the door shrinks from cold dry weather it'll adjust back to keep the door closed keeping it set against the seals.

Due to seasonal movement the area around the striker plate was chewed up from moving screws. I wanted a longer striker plate so the screws would go into more solid wood. The door latches which is the most important thing. The adjustment is left right and I needed up down so I didn't install the adjustment pieces. The screws were very long which is good and bad. The bad is the force required to screw them all the way in.

I had to open up the mortising on the door jam to fit the larger footprint of this door strike compared to the standard fixed strike. I would have liked to see a bent over lip like the original.

Very easily fixed the problem with our door.

The grooves or teeth that is supposed to hold the top piece in place is such a bad design. No matter how hard you tighten it down it shifts when you open or close the door and defeats the purpose of the adjustability. Good concept but bad design.

Solid product as described. You will probably have to do a little modification to the door jam with a chisel.
