They worked GREAT about three times. And then they failed. You get what you pay for. Garbage

The clips made it a little difficult to install but I think that was just he because my g6 is a convertible. Still only took me about a half hour.Make sure you have a buddy to hold the trunk open while you swap them out.

So happy this part worked for my car. They don't make the parts anymore so my dealership kept receiving the wrong part. I ordered this through Amazon and it was exactly the part that was needed. I now know where to look first and so much cheaper than what I would be charged by the dealership!!

Easy to install as long as you read the directions completely, especially on putting the pins in! LolThankfully this company has amazing customer support! I messaged them told them I messed up 2 pins due to my own ignorance and they had me more at my front door in two days! Super impressed by this company so far.

2006 Pontiac G6 convertible trunk lifts: just purchased immaculate G6 Convertible with just 19k miles. Only problem with car is trunk would not stay open. Ordered these lifts and they arrived within 2 days. Well packaged with good generic installation instructions. The way they secure is a bit diffrent then the OEMs, but that is all explained in directions...take 5 min to read them FIRST !I propped up the trunk lid using a broom handle then compaired the new struts to the OEM still on the G6. They were the same lenght and diameter. Proceeded to remove the clips on the OEM lift on the drivers side, found that they do not need to be removed just slid down using a long stright head screwdriver on one side then the other of the bottom connector, it's kind of tight space down there but with a long screwdriver it easy. I repeated the process on the top connector clip and pulled the lift loose from hinge on the bottom side then the top, again quite easy. Then as per the instructions I removed the clips from the new strut and installed the piston end on the bottom hinge then the top. Using a long pair of needle nose pliers I attempted to I stall the clip I. The bottom connector. Unfortunately I dropped it and it dissapeared into a small opening between the bottom of the trunk and the back seat. I think I could have got it by removing the back seat but being unfamiliar with how that seat is dismounted I decided to try using a small magnet on taped to a thin graphite rod and was able to fish the clip out. I then took a rag and with my screwdriver fished the rag around underneath the hinge blocking those openings. Tried to install the clip again using the long needle nose pliers,,,,success this time with the help of a flashlight to see way down there, repeated with the top side turning the connector around to the hinge side rotating the entire cylinder not just the end connector.Moved over to the passenger side repeated the entire process although using the rag to block the openings right from the start.Removed the broom handle, the trunk stayed open. Closed the trunk with a bit of effort compressing the struts but she closed all the way and latched. When I popped the trunk it now opened on it's own, lifting the lid about half way.

I have fought for two years with my 07 Pontiac G6 Convertible trunk lid closing on my head and my wife's head and come upon this. I hesitantly ordered based o reviews of it being easy to install since it is in a tight location. I decided that I would try it as I am pretty handy but still never sure of these tight spaces. I got a long screwdriver and small hammer to knock out the clips to the old lift support holding clips and they popped out with a little persuasion. WARNING. Make sure someone is helping to hold the trunk lid up or something to support it as it will likely fall onto your head, hands or other as mine did upon changing out both supports. Now the scary part of putting the new one in. You need to remove the little spring clips and they pop right on with little effort and used a small pry bar to help it go on with little prying needed. Trying to reach in to install the spring clip is almost impossible with hands on the lower joints. I happen to have had a surgeons forceps clamp which allowed me to lock onto the clip and reach in to loop the straight spring clip onto the little hole and push in the clip all the way and then used a screwdriver to turn and clip securely to hold the support. Then installed the spring support on the top side of the ball and finished the job. It literally only took a few minutes on each support. Did both sides in about 15 minutes as others said. Tools needed were a long flat headed screwdriver, hammer, forceps to install these. My trunk now opens with not much effort as it should and stays up by itself and takes the right amount of effort to close trunk lid as it should. I am so very happy I found Lift Supports Depot on Amazon and they provided a link to some tips to install and even an email with the same tips prior to my parts arriving to my home. They appear to be a great company with support if needed. I definitely recommend this company and product if you are having problems with your 2007 Pontiac G6 Convertible. One tip suggested removing the antennae but I didn't find the antennae to be in the way, so I didn't do this and had no issue. My only suggestion is to get some forcepts or similar to help reach in to get clips installed and it would be easier to be able to lock onto the clip because if you were to drop them trying to do otherwise, they may fall into the trunk area where you cannot find it if dropped. Would be nice if they supplied a couple of extra clips just in case as without, you may be out of lick or could use a tiny nail with a small head to keep from falling through and bend to hold in if you were to lose the clips and should work well.
