First saw something like this while walking around electronics market in Taipei. Thought it might make for an interesting alternative to the camera straps that hang from the neck or shoulder. Travel a lot and usually have a backpack carrying my lenses. Have a camera strap that hangs across neck and shoulder, but it gets caught with the straps of the backpack from time to time. This allows the camera to connect to a shoulder strap on the backpack. It contains a quick release plate that screws into the tripod mount of a camera. There is a button release to easily remove the camera from the strap. It has another button to tighten down the camera and stop the button release from engaging to protect the camera when walking or climbing over rough terrain. The device connects easily to any normal backpack strap and is completely adjustable.I recently took this on a trip and loved how it kept the camera in place and allowed me easy access to removing or replacing the camera on the device. Absolutely love this thing.The device is made for attaching to vertical straps. Could be used on loops on pants or a belt.Pros - All metal construction! Seems very durable and is a fraction of the cost of similar products.Cons - This device is for normal backpack straps. Overnight or larger backpacks which have a lot of padding will most likely not work with this device. It's just not adjustable enough to go over a strap with padding. Also, the pictures shown in the advertisement for this device, show a DSLR camera lens pointing outward from the strap. This is incorrect, with the device fully attached, the DSLR camera lens will face either up, down or sideways depending on how you mount it. The pictures in the advertisement appear doctored to show the placement of the camera.I would like this device to be able to handle thicker backpack straps (like Osprey large packs) so I could use it more easily with my overnight packs but I believe I could find other straps on one of those backpacks to attach it to. If I take it on an overnight trip in the future, I will try to update this review.I do not own a go-pro camera or similar device so not sure if you could mount one of those with the lens pointing forward.
