Website said it was a direct replacement for atwood gcaa-10e and it is smaller (doesn't fit) and doesn't come with door shown in picture - I use amazon thinking they have a good return policy - Amazon will not take it back! Trying to deal with Domenic is frustrating with many hoops to go through - looks like I'm out $1200 - recommend using a cheaper on line RV company as at least they can give you right information.

The product I received does not match the description. Measurements in description are off substantially, door/cover is not included, while being shown in product photo. This was learned 90 days after purchase; first opportunity to effect repairs. Will attempt to return product.

Easy to install after talking to Atwood customer service person about the fact that the old unit had three 12 volt wires and the new has four wires. Hook everything up before you screw into the exterior wall. It allows you a little movement, which makes hooking up the water and gas lines easier. Also a good idea to purchase the rubber washers that go in the water line fittings and a new back flow nipple, 1/2 inch male to male pipe that fits in the back of the new unit hot water outlet.

Installed this myself and saved $350. It comes in once piece, so no assembly required other than reconnecting hoses, wires, and propane. I used a threading dope form Home Depot for the propane connection with no problem. The unit is also pretty light (maybe 20 lbs or less?). The biggest challenge was just dragging the old unit out of the small cut-out in the RV, but really no big deal. Not this one comes with the optiona engine heat exchanger tubing connector, but you don't have to use it.As for the quality of the unit itself, I guess its okay. No anode rod needed, but that means the gunk is going to eat at the bottom of the tank (that's why they sell a replacement tank separately). Be sure to flush this puppy out once per month to avoid the pinhole leak I developed after just 18 months of use plus one hard freeze (oops). Hopefully this one will last longer with better care form me!
