QPQ RV Magnesium Anode Rod is used to replace the rusted bar in the water tank of the water heater, perfect replacement for Suburban and Mor-Flo models, and other 3⁄4" NPT threads water heaters. It can effectively prevent corrosion and rusting, prolong the life of your RV water tank.
QPQ RV Magnesium Anode Rod is made of Premium Magnesium AZ31B Alloy (97% Mg), which is an upgraded model of AZ63-T1 (90.7% Mg).A higher magnesium concentration can provide more adequate protection.
Anode Removal: Turn off the power to the water pump. Turn off the gas supply and the electrical power to the water heater. Be sure the water is cool before attempting to remove the anode rod. To remove, rotate counter-clockwise using a 1 1/16" socket wrench. It may take a lot of force to loosen, especially if it hasn't been removed in awhile. Stand clear when removing the rod, as water may splash. Drain water heater and flush sediments from the bottom of the tank.
New Anode Installation: Wrap threads clockwise with Teflon thread sealant tape or sealing compound that is approved for potable water. Insert new anode rod in drain opening and rotate clockwise to tighten.Turn on the water supply to refill the tank with water. Check around threads at the anode rod for leaks.If there is a leak tighten anode. Turn on gas supply and electrical power.
