This is a SIM specifically designed for use in China (and has no roaming capabilities). But this is legit as it runs off the Unicom network, which is one of the major ones in China. This therefore means that coverage is really good and reliable, too. It's hard to imagine that the majority of visitors and foreign travelers to the country will experience out of coverage areas, as every major city will have reception. We had no issues during our travels, mostly in the more northern regions of the country, and it's important to note that the limitations of apps and search engines is nothing to do with the SIM; this is China's firewall.

This esim actually works out pretty well for me, since you can have data ready to go when you land, as long as you register prior to your trip. There is no phone number for making local calls, but China seems to be a country where everyone uses the Wechat app, so it is ok. 10G over 30days is good enough for messaging and the periodic voice call, just make sure you don't video call all the time, or keep uploading photos and streaming videos. One video call cost me almost a gb of data.

Data is super quick and activation was done within 4 hours. Make sure to activate this before your fight so by the time you land it's already connected!

I used this a few weeks ago in Shanghai, Hangzhou and Beijing and it works fine. The speed is not very consistence, probably depends on the location. I activated it 3 days before my trip because I used a similar one before in different country and it took a while. After I landed in the airport, I turn on the phone and it is connected seamlessly. This one does not come with a phone number so it has to use messaging app to make calls. Not as convenient but it works for me. I stay for 12 days and 10G is enough for my trip.

I got this for a family member who is planning a trip to the PRC this summer. They were already planning to purchase an eSIM for their trip so I jumped at this item. There was no hardware in the package, just instructions to register it before the trip. They will report back after their trip and I will amend this review if anything important needs to be shared.

This eSim card works perfectly with good upload/download speed once it activates. However, it took over 24 hours for the card to activate so keep that in mind before travelling. The card is for data only and not for making calls or texts. All the card will do is give access to apps like WhatsApp, WeChat and iMessenger/FaceTime. If you need an actual phone number or make calls/send and receive text messages, then this is not the right card to get.

This card is useless in China. I spent several days trying to enable and configure this esim card. Basically no success. WhatsApp, IMessages are not working. I had to turn on my primary esim to receive text messages. I requested to return this card.

I was So ecstatic about receiving this sim kit. Super easy to set up and use and it worked so well without issues and support was easy to reach and understand. Such a useful card to have! And it's just a code you scan so no worries about breaking or losing the tiny little sim card

The eSIM card is convenient to use. Instruction says need to schedule activation at least one day ahead of the desired activation date, but the activation process was pretty quick when I tried to activate for today. The data worked fine in China as I traveled around different areas. However, I do notice that sometimes the data seems slow, especially at busy urban locations. Probably has to do with the nature of eSIM itself.

The travSIM China eSIM has been a fantastic addition to my travel toolkit. Activation was smooth and hassle-free, thanks to the clear instructions provided. The 10GB of data was more than sufficient for my 30-day trip, and I was able to use VoIP apps like Skype and WhatsApp without any issues. The coverage on the Unicom network was excellent; I had a stable connection in all the major cities I visited, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. The customer service team was prompt and helpful whenever I needed assistance, and it was comforting to know that they were available 24/7.However, I do feel that the price could be more competitive. While the eSIM performed exceptionally well, there are other options in the market that offer similar features at a lower cost. Despite this, I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend the travSIM China eSIM for anyone planning a trip to China. It provides reliable data coverage and ease of use, making it a dependable choice for travelers.

This travel SIM from TravSIM can be ordered that cover various Asian regions with various data limits and validity periods. I selected the eSim with 10 GB for 30 days for the China region. The package is just shipped with a QR and code in order to activation. I have used physical travel SIM before, but wanted to try using an eSIM since they are easier to manage in modern smartphones. I have travelled yet, but I do have some concerns regarding if I need to use a VPN service in order to use Google compatible apps while in China. I will report back if I do encounter issues. The current price of $35 CAD is a bit high for 10 GB.
