Very happy with my Topping Dac. Have it set up using optical audio out from LG TV and connected to Adam T5V active studio monitor speakers using XLR cables. The sound is simply excellent. I put this setup together for my father who mostly uses it for watching TV and listening to music through YouTube - so we were expecting limitations on sound quality - however we were pleasantly surprised and impressed by the results. The sound is clear, accurate and detailed without losing warmth. The new setup is 100 times better than his Sonos soundbar. The Bluetooth function is quite nice and sounds good when playing from an iPhone. We weren’t impressed when we used the LG TV’s Bluetooth to connect to the DAC. (Sound was muffled and compressed compared to using the optical cable) but I think this may have more to do with the quality of the TV’s Bluetooth processor. Unfortunately we have run into some compatibility issues. The optical/tosslink connection seems to have tiny sound dropouts when the system has been playing for a while. (I looked this up and there seem to be a lot of complaints about the quality of the optical signal created by LG tv’s and sometimes Samsung TVs, particularly when they are paired with a high end DAC) It would have been really nice if Topping had put an HDMI input(Like most new soundbars have) - but this feature seems to be quite rare on DACs. We plan to buy an HDMI audio extractor (With Tosslink output) to try to use the HDMI ARC output from the TV to connect to the DAC in the hopes that this will solve the “dropout” problem. We have not tested the DAC using USB input. Otherwise the unit looks very nice and seems to be good value for money. The remote seems a little weak and needs to be pointed directly at the unit or it doesn’t function. It my be a problem if you plan to put the DAC behind glass in a hifi cabinet. Also we were not able to use the TV remote to control the volume of the DAC when connected via the optical cable. When connected by Bluetooth to the TV you are able to control volume using the TV remote. We were able to control the volume of the old soundbar using the TV remote when it was connected via the HDMI ARC output. The DAC is supposed to be able to receive volume control from a source device but this may only be possible when connected by USB.

It's a dac so i bought it because it was silver and I can run XLR and RCA at the same time. That is all.

Compared to my old DAC (audio engine d1), the topping e70 had a very obvious increase in clarity. I am currently using the XLR outputs to some studio monitors as opposed to the RCA's the D1 had. Worth the upgrade!

Such a good price-to-performance ratio. Great for so many uses.

PRO:- a slight improvement over the Topping E50CON:- You need VERY good aim and need to be directly in front of this unit for the remote to work. Might as well not sell this with a remote. It’s worthless.- ear fatigue after an hour of listeningEventually I upgraded to a Denafrips Ares II 12th (an R2R dac) which improved sound quality significantly with a 3D live music sound.
