What you really need in a watering timer is something that is easy to set up and use, activates the water on time, and DOESN'T LEAK. This timer is all three of those things. This timer works as intended, and is fairly easy to set up. Getting the time set is intuitive, and the display is better than some other value-priced timers.Only time will tell how long this one will last, but I'm pleased so far.

Got this to help with watering a few plants alongside the house. It seems like a durable enough unit, it would be nice if it had some sort of provision to maybe mount it to a wall or the side of a planter box. the fittings are plastic so hopefully they will do OK in our fairly brutal heat and sunlight. The timer runs off of 2 "AA" batteries (not included) and the battery holder appears to be fairly well weatherproofed. It includes some fittings, inlet screens and gaskets to put in your parts box. It has an LCD display on the front for setting the time, and 3 different programs. I guess you can also run it manually and bypass a scheduled program but I didn't try those features out. I only need one program, set to water for about 5 minutes every morning. The instructions however aren't really clear on how to set these functions up since the translation from the native language leaves much to be desired. Once I figured it out (and still not exactly sure HOW I figured it out) the timer is running fine.So if you're cool with some trial and error this seems to be a decent gadget to help you not kill your plants.

Setup is relatively straightforward and provides plenty of options. It's not the most intuitive, but the instructions are okay and get the job done. The female swivel connector doesn't swivel freely - it has much more tension to it than I'd like - but since it should only need to be attached once per season, that's a minor issue. No leaks."Manual" mode confused me at first in that you long press the triangular hand button (maybe 2-3 seconds) and then it seems like nothing happened. But another 2-3 seconds later, it acknowledges what you did and then manual mode begins for the number of minutes displayed.I think a few things could be tweaked to be a little better, but in general I am happy with this now that it's set up.

This is a very well made timer, everything seems to fit and seal as it should. The hose bib connection is brass and tightens easily for no leaks. The display is a bit small and difficult, To read, but once you figure it out there are MANY options. I would suggest setting it up with good lighting BEFORE you install it.

So this is pretty good. So far it seems on par with some of the big name brands, of which I have two. I have picked up two of these off-brand ones lately to compare them. I have a raised bed garden, a separate tomato garden, and two large flower beds. My name brand ones have four spigots all that can be run on different schedules and intervals. They are really nice. These two I'm going to use for My new raised bed garden that I just built and to water my pigs water trough. As far as installing the batteries, it wasn't terribly intuitive. I did look at their directions which helped. I have an included a photo so you know what it looks like when you pull it out. The other off-brand name timer I have you simply just gently pulled on the battery case and it popped right off. This one it's an entire box that holds the batteries that you are pulling out from the timer itself. So, I'm definitely including some photos so you can see what that looks like. I followed the directions easily enough to set up a daily watering schedule. Since this will be for my raised bed gardens it was easy enough to set up watering once a day for 30 minutes. I may have to change it and water twice a day when July rolls around and it gets really hot. But for now, that's where I'm going to start. As always I start with five stars for packaging and directions. Everything was in place. Everything looks good. If it breaks or has problems before the end of the summer, I will update my review accordingly.
