I bought a pair of these drives just under 2 years ago (15033 power-on hours) and they have been excellent. Very low rotational noise, loud seeks (but that's to be expected), high sequential speeds, and only one drive of the pair has any bad sectors at this time, to the tune of one (1) bad 4 KiB sector. The 5-year warranty shows the faith Seagate puts in these drives.

I've had this in operation now for a couple of months. So far — so good. No complaints and I'm good at finding fault. It makes a very soft thunking sound, presumably when it's seeking; it almost sounds like thunder at a great distance. Spins down when the computer sleeps and only takes a couple of seconds to spin back up. Fingers crossed that it stands up for the long haul. It's lovely to have this much storage since I don't believe in the cloud or its wannabees.

Llegó un poco antes de lo esperado y funcionando de forma perfecta desde entonces. El nivel de ruido es un poco más bajo que mi anterior modelo que era un Western Digital Red Plus

Purchased 4 of these for my NAS system. good value and very easy to use. One has failed and been replaced by the way this is why I chose a NAS system in the first place. no date was lost due to the failure.

I ordered two of these drives yesterday and they arrived today. I bought these for storing image backups for two super micro computer systems. I I keep redundant backups.I installed each of these drives in to a USB-3 external drive enclosure. Made a full partition and formatted them NTFS with the default sectors. With the first one I made a full system image backup of the main boot drive containing the OS, the locally installed programs, and the local user files. I was surprised at the speed this backup finished. This drive performs very decently. There was a lot of data to back up.The two drives will be connected to the servers and be accessible 24/7 doing automatic scheduled image backups along with restore points. For my computers I keep 4 separate full backup images (two image backups are kept off line). This type of redundancy allows for very good and reliable security. I cannot afford to have a system down for a long time because of failed backups in case of a crash or some other fault where data and or system recovery can easily fix the issues. If I had to restore one of the super micros from the backup image, it should come back within about 60 to 80 minutes. While the restore is happening I can go have my dinner. When I get back the system should be back up and running as if nothing happened. If I had to install one one of these computers with everything from zero as like when new, this could take me over three days of full time work. Very frustrating and time consuming work.--This is the first day using these drives and so-far they have been working well. At present I cannot comment any experience with long term use. In the past I have been using Seagate drives for data storage and backup system images, and had very good experience with them.I had to replace a 2TB Seagate backup drive yesterday because after 11 years running 24/7 it failed. This drive served me very well. It was used for backups over three generations of servers. During its time it was considered a huge drive.Tip: To make drives last longer have a fan blowing air on them. Drawing the heat from them makes for greater long term reliability.

Bought two of these to replace a WD Red drive for my unraid system that died after only a couple years as well as a super old 2TB drive I had. I have seen people over the years rave about these drives and the price seemed really good for 6TB of space. The packaging for shipping was pretty decent. The speed was consistent with what I expected and it has so far been performing as expected. It has only been a week or so, so time will tell. I will update this review if things change, but so far everything is functioning as expected.

I have 2 of these drives in my NAS in a raid 1 configuration. They are fantastic, they take all the data I need them too from games when my main PC's hdds were dying to the photos from my family from the last 15 years.I couldn't recommend anything different for a small home set up like this.

So, you decided to buy the Seagate IronWolf, sure the name sounds cool. But you're not here for the name, you are here for the Product and let me tell you this. If you plan to use this as an Internal HDD then please move on, if you plan to use this product as intended (NAS) then carry on.Seagate IronWolf is dare I say a Consumer Grade HDD designed for NAS/Surveillance. I say Surveillance because I feel there is little difference between the Seagate IronWolf and Seagate SkyHawk, not to mention IronWolf is listed as “Surveillance HDD” under Seagate Warranty lookup tool. Now that isn’t a bad thing, as both serve few vital functions. These functions being:Store large chunks of Data;Function around the clock 24/7/365;I’m sure at this point someone is wondering why I said it’s not good for a “Internal HDD” in a Home/Small Office computer. And the reasons for this is quite simple:Most home/office PC’s only really need 500 ~ 1000GB as rest is usually stored on offsite backup (applies to: office use only or savvy home user);NAS aren’t designed to work as a single unit; Now the primary point is #2, that NAS work in a Cluster (RAID) to replicate data across the Cluster of HDD’s in that RAID. In home settings you do not have a RAID and as such using 1 NAS drive as an Internal is rather silly, as it’s not the intended purpose of a NAS.The other problem is that the IronWolf (Non-Pro, anything from 1 to 4 TB) will be running at 5900 RPM, this isn’t fast by any means as most consumer grade HDD’s like Compute or Baracudda run at 7200 RPM’s and come with a similar price tag as IronWolf minus the cool name. If you want the 7200 RPM speeds, you would need the IronWolf Pro and this is the point where the price starts to climb pretty fast vs consumer alternatives. The other problem I personally ran is that the IronWolf isn’t very MacOS friendly, and no this isn’t a problem with Driver support since my MacOS system runs fine with NTFS 2.5, 3.5 and SSD/M2 external drives. However, when it comes to IronWolf its locked in Read-Only mode, this only applies when connecting the IronWolf via SATA to USB adaptor with power and hooking it up to a USB port on the computer. Now then I hope this review was informative, and “NO” this isn’t a good choice to use as a PS4 hard drive either, for Gaming an SSD is a much better option, alternatively a Consumer grade HDD with a Flash portion would be more beneficial (assuming it’s 7200 RPM).Cheers.
