Before installation, tape the large nut and the small nut. Open the hot water pressure relief valve before draining. This will release any pressure in the tank.

Not exactly as pictured. This listing shows a two piece brass drain plug. What was sent was a three piece. Basically, brass adaptor pieces that go 1/2-inch, to 3/8 and then down to 1/4-inch. I specifically bought from this listing, as it showed and described a two piece version, which is a 1/2-inch down to 3/8 only. I specifically wanted that style, so that with frequent use for what I'm going to be using these for (drain adaptors on compressed air line drain plug drops), I wouldn't have to worry about 1/4-inch versions potentially shearing off / breaking with repeated use and perhaps over-/under-tightening. But, since I didn't get what I wanted, it kinda sucks with the bait-and-switch compared to the pictures, because my 30 mins of searching for the right product for my usage is gone to the wind.
