Make no mistake. This rod and reel combination is not top of the line but for backpacking trips it is perfect. Word of advice. If your hook gets stuck on something just cut the line. I caught 6 catfish with a previous purchase of this item but when the hook got stuck on something and I tried to force it free, the end broke. This is just a recreational backpacking, whitewater rafting trip pole and it will not hold up like an ordinary pole. Having said that, I am happy with this pole.

Hard to believe this light weight , very easy to pack rod would work so well. We went on a trip and it fit in our suitecase leaving plenty of weight and room for other items. The line could have been a little more heavy duty but that is the consumable portion. The fact that it went together so easily and stayed together while fishing is what made this little gem a good buy

Took it on a trip hoping I would be able to spend some time fishing and I did. Lightweight and worked right out of the box.

I'm not a fisherman. If your not either i don't recommend this pole.I tangled the line a lot..for me it didn't work but it is built well and has the advantage of being packed in a small case.. but i don't think it's a pole for someone who doesn't fish much..
