Prang has wonderful watercolor sets that are not cakey and the colors are more potent than typical watercolor supplies purchased for students. As an art teacher, I only purchase Prang watercolor sets because I can count on their quality, blendability, washability, and ease of use, which eliminates frustration in young artists. The brushes that come with them are a nice quality and the price point is right.

I have been using these for study and sketchbook work for the last 2 years and they do a fine job. I like the case and refillable pans. I have refilled a number of pans in the this 16 color set and in a smaller 8 color set that I already had. The plastic case is light for carrying with other supplies into the field. Also, these are made in North America rather than China.

You get what you pay for is so true. Got it on sale (44% off). The case was not snapped closed (and it was not wrapped up, even a band around the middle would have helped) and half pans were scattered around. Missing one half pan. I got it to experiment with so will not be trying to return it. I guess some of the reviews mentioning parts missing were correct.
