Purchased this for my kiddo and he really had fun. I just wish there were.more tiles or some sold separately. Though we use the letters to spell other words. Definitely a great gift, very educational, and excellent quality!!!!

I’m very happy with purchase. Great learning toy. I love Melissa and Doug and this purchase did not disappoint. I like how the wood pieces have words on both sides of them. My 22 month old loves it. I do wish it came with hardcover lid for storage, as it can be easy to lose small letter pieces.

Excellent educational activity for toddlers, my daughter, 3 gets great joy out of this. She loved learning the alphabet and colour names so this was extra fun for her connecting these to words she knew too.

Bought these for my kindergarten class and now for my three year old. Great for teaching kids how to sound out letters and how to spell, also read and write. Made to last! Love wooden activities for children.

This is great for any kid who loves letters and words. There are enough puzzle pieces to make all 16 words at once (obviously you can't put them on both sides of the puzzle board at once) and separately, line up the letters to create the whole alphabet. The obly thing that disappointed me was the small design flaw with the box- it doesn't come with a lid. But easily fixed by buying a small plastic box from the dollar store to keep the letters from getting lost.

Great quality. Real wood as is all Melissa & Doug toys with smooth finish.Wish they would have provided maybe a slide out lid to keep everything together, prevent loss and make storing easy. For this reason I give this 4 stars.Worth the buy, great concept for teaching reading and spelling basics.

The set comes in a nice wooden box that has 2 compartments, one for the 64 letters and the other for the word plates. There are a total of 16 words. I find that the choice of words is really good. There are animals, vehicles and other every day things like cake and sun. The letters fit in the slots easily and the plates are very sturdy. Overall it seems like a great quality and long lasting educational toy. My 2.5 year old likes to play with it... I put the right letters in front of him and he tries to fit them in the slots. It's recomended for ages 4+ but my son is passed the chewing everything phase plus I keep an eye on him constantly. I feel like this set will get a lot of use and already have ideas for a few fun games depending on the age. Example: 2 kids could split the words and then race eachother on who completes them first, on one side and then the other... etc...

I just LOVE Melissa & Doug toys! They are so durable, and they tend to keep the kids interest much longer than any other educational toys. This kit is great for my little girl who loves learning how to spell things. She gets very excited and tells everyone to ask her how to spell fish or boat. I was worried about losing some of the letters, but the wooden box seems to keep everything together nicely. The letters themselves are a good size and are pretty sturdy, so they will not not break easily. After almost a year of use, the paint on this product is still like new which is awesome! It's great for handing down to younger kids, because they still feel like they are getting a new toy.

This is a great learning tool and a fun puzzle. I bought this for my two year old to challenge her and she has so much fun. As long as I pick out the letters she needs she can figure it out. There is a lot of replay value with Melissa and Doug toys. My kids love them and this is one they can all grow into and enjoy for years!

As usual a beautifully made, educational toy from Melissa and Doug. My 3 1/2 year old couldn't wait for me to unwrap it for her. The quality is excellent, with lovely pictures, plenty of letters and a variety of words to complete. Very helpful when trying to encourage letter recognition, phonics and learning to associate letters with simple words.The only downside is the lovely storage 'box' is more a storage 'tray', it has no lid! Every time my daughter gets the box from it's shelf, she spills a few letters, despite her being exceptionally careful. It's a shame that something as simple as a lid has been missed.
