I have been lifting my hatch and using a stick to hold it. The new lift supports work so well that I almost hit myself in the face the first time I opened the hatch. Less that a sixth of the price at the dealer and they far exceeded my expectations. I couldn't believe how quickly I was able to install them, especially as I had no idea what I was doing. Great instructions included.

My car has the rear wiper. These fit fine.Installation is easy. Taking the old ones out is the hardest part; use a flat head screw driver to pry the clip off the ball sockets (doesn't have to come all the way off). To put the new ones on don't touch the clip; just push the socket onto the ball. Do the one on the trunk lid first as you may have to manually compress these a bit and it's easier to hold by the bigger diameter.There is some damping force near the end of the stroke, but at the very end they go back to "full speed" but there's no crazy trunk lid bouncing or anything.

These lift supports fit perfect and cost less than half the Toyota price. I ordered these for my Yaris, but had already used them on two other Toyota vehicles. They still work like new after 2 and 3 years.
