I replaced but lift supports for my Subaru Forester 2014. One of the original ones was already broken, the other one about to break. The new lift supports fit nicely and were easily installed. During the opening phase of the hatch, the new lift supports do not provide as much opening force as the originals: I need to swing the hatch open a little higher than I used to, before the lift supports take over and push the hatch fully open. Still, I recommend this replacement part.

I was stuck in a parking lot when my back hatch broke the strut. Was able to remove the screws and close the hatch. Immediately ordered these struts which were easy to install and showed good quality. Very happy with the performance and will be changing out the other strut soon.

2 OEM struts were over $400. These worked great, actually better design than OEM. Put on my 2017 forester.

These things work great at a very reasonable price. I put them on over a year ago and they are still great.Take your time installing newbee's And I highly recommend watching and reading up on installation.That rear gate is HEAVY!

Works fantastic on our 2016 Forester with power lift gate. Hardest part was removing the arm that didn’t seize/snap. Installation was a breeze. Cost was a fraction of OEM.

Perfect fit for my 2017.UPDATE: 10/23 - it seems that the little wire clips fall out, as mine are now missing. Hopefully I can find something that works to fix this.

Amazon said it would come by Canada Post, but it came by FedEx. It took 3 days to schedule the delivery.There was no instruction, in particular you have to pull out a small pin in order to insert the ball into the socket. There were new screws.In the end, it works OK, except that it lifts a little too high and this triggers the motor to reverse and shut the door. There may be an adjustment for the length of the piston rod, but I have not found how to do it yet.One year later, it broke!

Great customer service. I guess my Subaru model is picky. The first set would not work. Called customer service and they rushed me another set. Didn't work. Sent back for full refund. They fit perfectly but I have an automatic opener on my gate that didn't like the speed at which the cylinders extended. Had to buy expensive OEM.

I suffered the same fate as others. The lift gate on my 2014 forester just up and snapped one evening after coming home. I got a temporary replacement but the trunk wouldn't open all the way up, would sometimes not open from the latch and falls occasionally. In any event, replaced both with these and it's been working flawlessly. Installation a breeze. The included instructions seem to be for another type of support but you don't need an engineering degree to figure out how to put these on. Took me about 2 hours install but I swear I spent 1:45 trying to remove the originals. Great buy (so far because if fails...i will edit!). Happy customer.

I've a 2015 Subaru Forester with both Manual / Power liftgate.I visited the closest Subaru dealer in my area, &, the parts dept. wanted $55 for one lift support.I came to Amazon found this pair at a very fair price, ordered within several days was on the door steps.The install went rather quick, &, surely someone with better eyes be a much faster install. I took my time, roughly 30-45mins start to finish. I placed a dab of never-seize (rather than grease) in the ball sockets, just to help lube & prevent rust, also a dab on the bolts as well The reason for replacement was due to one of the original struts having broke at the ball socket. Anyways now we're deep into winter, the liftgate works like a charm. If ever a need to replace, this set will be the first on my list for reorder. SMRY
