The half-grommet is about 1/32" too large, and as a result, the plates did not fit snugly together. It is as thought they were designed for a softer, more compressible grommet, and the current grommet is rigid. When assembled, there was about a 1/16th inch gap between the plates.This was not a major problem, as I took a file and filed both halves of the plastic grommet slightly, and as a result, everything now fit fine.Note that you have to snap the grommet all of the way onto the plate, as there are some raised retaining knobs that are designed to hold the grommet during assembly, and you must push the grommet past these retaining knobs or the plates will be much further apart.I notice that one reviewer said the plates were blue in color. They are not blue, but they are covered with a blue plastic protective film that must be removed if you wish to see the stainless plate. I recommend removing the film before snapping the grommets into place, as remnants of the film will become trapped under the grommet, making the film more difficult to replace.

I bought this for replacing a broken plastic cover. It was a bit hard to get it in place but now it looks fantastic. It was the only easy solution for us.
