Bought this since I thought the drum in my HL-L5100DN was going to fail imminently, but so far it hasn't... so for now this is based only on initial impression of the build and packaging quality (why packaging? I've found that products in poor packaging seem to be hit-or-miss on actual product quality; while if a manufacturer takes care in the product packaging, they almost always seem to have a pretty high-quality product as well). The drum itself seems to have all the key structural components from the OEM drums replicated, and in a "twist test" seems to be quite sturdy, although not quite as much so as an OEM unit. As soon as my current drum bites the dust, I'll give this a field test and will report back with more info.

While I was browsing through the donated items at a local store, I came across a Brother MFC-L5900DW printer/scanner/fax. Although I didn't need another printer, I noted that this printer could use the two toner cartridges I had previously bought by mistake. What the heck, it was only $25. The drum unit in the printer read "exhausted". While I have used drums well past their end-of-life by 2 - 3 times, I wanted this printer to do the best possible work.I am pleased to say that the LCL drum unit was fully compatible and installed in seconds. I've included a photo of the "test print" page produced by the new drum and a fresh toner cartridge.Their instructions on setting the drum usage back to 0 was exactly accurate, although there was nothing secret about the menu settings to use. For this printer, you just need to tell it to reset the drum.This is a very good quality drum replacement and I recommend it.

I picked up a used Brother laser printer that the previous owner said has a bunch of toner spilt inside. Once I gave it a quick cleaning and installed this new drum (as well a toner cartridge) it was off to the races. It now prints beautifully! As you can tell from my test print, text and grayscale gradients are crisp. Beside the install being a little tricky the first time (remember I bought this used without a manual, but having used laser printers in offices before It wasn't hard to figure out) I have zero complaints. The printer has shown zero errors about the drum being aftermarket and even though there was an included sheet about how to perform a reset I haven't needed to.

The size and fit works. The ink cartridge fit this drum and my machine. So far the printer is working like normal with this replacement drum. There is not a huge difference comparing to the OEM drum other than a slight decrease in rigidity, which is common on lower cost replacements when trying to save manufacturing costs. This could impact the longevity of the drum, but hasn’t shown to be an issue yet. The film part of the drum looks about the same. On the OEM drum that is what eventually wore down causing streaks in the print. Overall it is a much better value than buying the OEM drum even if in the end it has some reduced life. Only time will tell, but as long as it gets half the life you are still getting a reasonable value for the cost.

Recently I installed this printer drum in my printer. After I installed it, the computer was still showing the message that asked me to change the drum. I tried re installed it several times but the message was still showing. Later on I ignored the message and tried to print. It worked, however, it didn’t function properly. Not as I expected.
