The gate seems sturdy. I needed it for a 60” opening, but at that width, my 17 lb. dog was able to walk right through one of the holes. I’m going to keep it and use it for something else rather than my porch. If your opening is narrow or your dog a little larger it should work. My 25 lb. dog couldn’t fit through the holes. I think a large dog would be able to push it over if not mounted.

I looked at several fences/gates for blocking off our front & back porch/deck this summer with the puppy and settled on this one. When not in use it takes up hardly any space. It is incredibly light weight to move around. I bought it for outside, but ended up using immediately to keep our puppy contained in a room after neutering when I didn't want the more "permanent" gate up so that I could move more easily (I'm too short to step over other gate).

I bought this gate to keep my grandson from walking into the street and it has worked like a charm. It has not fallen over and it has been windy. I’m very impressed with it.
