You can make this work and to adapt to extra large door. My doors are 2 1/4 inches thick and was able to use the spindle for a new smart lock

The spindles are all the same length without cut marks requiring a hack saw to cut to length. A vise and file for clean up are also helpful. Can not be broken to length with pliers. If your spindle is broken you need to guess at the cut length .

Unfortunately these size spindle are not able to fitthe particular lock I am working on. I would have prefer one with a smaller width. However, I am hoping these spindles will be useful for another lock I will eventually work on.

I ordered a gate lock that used this mechanism. This mechanism requires you to cut to size. The original gate was a different thickness, and when we replaced the gate, the mechanism was too short to work. We ordered these replacements and they worked like a charm.
