This is working great hold my hatch cover open.Tighten securely to prevent it from slipping closed - there is only the single friction point vs a movable collar.

Turn screw does not hold arm extension securely. Has released hatch door to hit someone's head.

It appears to be stainless steel. The knob works quite poorly and certainly could not be trusted to support a hatch. In testing it i turned tightly by hand and watched it slide open and closed. Not for my boat. Back to the actual name brands and real marine stores. Of course this means higher prices.
