Been using these for years. They work great. Reliable and don’t make buzzing noises like some others I’ve used. To early to tell if the stainless enclosure will last any longer then the regular one. Avoid the “pool tax” that pool brands add for rebranding units like this one. Would recommend

Use a 300 watt fir pool lights. Ordered the 600 watt for low voltage lighting in the yard. Liked there are 2 300 watt sides with built in breaker.

*not stainless, just silver paint. I was hoping the stainless steel meant a stainless enclosure that wouldn't rust. Instead it means it's the same as the other model, but painted silver. Otherwise it's a transformer, there's not much to review there.

This transformer was used to replace an old plastic cased unit that burned our when the 25 year old wires shorted out. This transformer has a thermal switch inside the transformer, much better for saving the unit from a short circuit. When this feature performed as designed I knew I had a short and I quickly found several to repair by replacing the ground wires. You do have to buy a separate light sensor and I like the SS case for coastal areas in Florida. I added a gasket seal to keep ants out of the box. No light timer is included or available from the manufacturer that I saw, so it is dawn-to-dusk operation with the light sensor. Good delay times on switching on/off within the light sensor. Works well for me. 50 Watt version was not available from local suppliers except by special order. I have all LED ground lights and only needed 35 watts output.

I bought this transformer to power low-voltage lights that are near my new spa. Per the 2014 NEC codes 680.22 (B)(6), you need a specific type of power supply / transformer if the lights will be within 10' of the water. It's the same transformer you would need to power an underwater light inside the pool or spa. NEC 680.23 (A)(2) spells out "Transformers for underwater luminaires shall be an isolated winding type with a grounded metal barrier between the primary and secondary windings, and shall be listed for the purpose." This transformer has all those features. There is a small note in the instructions that this transformer cannot be used with a dimmer. I will have a very low 15 watt load, and the dimmer will be on the downstream side of the transformer. I called Intermatic, and they said that using a dimmer was fine, and that note was probably a left-over from an earlier generation. You should call their tech support to check your situation. I appreciated that they HAVE knowledgeable tech support.I like the stainless steel construction of the box, with paint over that. No rust ever!
