I have a Yorkie and she likes being brushed with the softer side. The firmer side would be good for thicker coated dogs.

Our recently adopted senior dachshunds are unaccustomed to grooming and dislike any of the brushes we've had for years for other longhaired dachshunds. They run and hide if they even spot me holding one (or hear the word "bath")However, this brush has bristles that are softer on one side than a previous brush and they don't seem to mind the rounded-tip plastic bristles (unless a snarl is encountered from a dead bug corpse - their favorite roll-in item outside!). Even our one short-haired doxie enjoys the soft brush.So far, seems like a great choice!Just purchased this item so durability is still unknown. The wooden handle is comfortable and seems sturdy enough.

I have a Yorkie, and they have very fine hair. So most pet brushes don't work well for her. Previous to this, was just using a boars hair bush of my own for her--however, a little difficult to use on her due to shape and size. This brush solved those issues, and even gave me one side for wet or tangled fur. I've found it helps her fur stay softer longer, and it doesn't pull at her skin like other brushes tend to. The handle is a great shape, and keeps it from slipping from my hand as I use it. She's also a pretty big fan of the soft-bristle side, and will even lean into it.

This brush has been perfect for my papillon puppy’s coat. The soft bristle side is gentle enough to be used on her now, until she grows into using both sides of the brush. It’s very sturdy and I expect it to last a very long time.The soft bristle side helps keep her coat shiny, and I have no problem gently combing out the fringes growing in on her ears using it. We have a Havanese (they have hair, not fur and don't shed) and the open plastic side is a joy to use on him. The plastic teeth are gentle on his skin and acts like a belly rubber.The brush side is too dense for use on long furred dogs. It may work for shorter furred breeds.Bought this because it was the only one with plastic teeth, no metal and no metal with plastic balls on the end that always end up breaking off.

This is a great brush and my cat loves it! He is pretty picky with his brushes. So for him to love a brush is a big deal! The brush itself is really nice, quality wood. Not heavy but you can just feel that it's well made. It's easy to hold in your hand, the perfect size for me. The plastic pin side is nice and doesn't scratch him. The bristle side is his favorite though. It glides through his fur with ease. It doesn't cause static. It's just firm enough to give a really good brushing while not being hard enough to scratch him. He loves to rub his face on the bristle side so this brush is exactly what we were looking for. Some brushes have hard bristles and I can't let him rub his face on it. These bristles are just firm enough to do the job while still allowing him to rub his cheeks all over it without me getting worried. It's really the perfect brush for our needs.
