The light is great and I was delighted to see it was once again available for purchase! I received the first one and the battery was so old it wouldn't take a charge. I requested an exchange and received another one which also wouldn't work. To be specific it will light up when it is plugged in but as I stated the battery is totally dead and won't charge. I returned it August 23rd and as of September 15 still have not received a credit.

I believe there has been a manufacturing glitch with this product. I bought a verso rechargeable book light shortly after getting Kindle many years ago and it is still working. Always worked exactly as advertised. Then I got tired of waiting for it to charge between readings so I got a bright idea. Why not buy a second one to have as a back up (duh!) Alas, this product no longer works. I just now tried to use theSECOND one I ordered, thinking my first order was an anomaly (hope springs eternal). Alas, same problem. Light only comes on when directly connected to UBS charging cord, then stops when uplugged. No matter how many hours spent charging it. Another return!! Phooey.I ordered a back up Bekin version using AAA batteries. Has 2 drawbacks, which I will post to it's review separately.

Works well, lights the screen as I thought it would. I have a Nook Simple Touch and the Nook clip works well, kind of need to force it on a bit since the padding is more of a wedge shape, other than that it holds well.

Had to return this light because it would not hold a charge. Only worked when plugged into charger. I had the same light before though that I loved. This was meant to be a replacement for that one, which worked perfectly for over 3 years.

I have been unable to charge this device. Other people have sent me e-mails also complaining about the same problem. Tried to log on to the Verso Arc Light and to my surprise it is not working ( I have tried 4 times). Now I have wasted my money for I cannot return it for repayment. Amazon should remove this item from it's site. I am very disappointed as I need this kind of item to use on my ereader. . Eunice Fairfield

Great concept - was so excited to have a light that didn't require batteries. Light only works when plugged in as battery will not charge, so it isn't helpful when traveling. The light itself is quite bright and even, so I wish it worked.

I love this light. The charge lasts a very long time and lights up the ereader perfectly. I also love no batteries required.

My previous book light worked well, but the batteries didn't last very long at all. When I saw a nice sale-type price on this light, I snapped it up... and I am SO glad I did! It came with a USB charger, but I found that my Kindle Keyboard charger fits it too, so I can charge it even faster with AC power. The light is quite even- none of those dim spaces- and once the unit is attached to the Kindle, it looks like it grew on there. The other day I went looking for another one for a friend. To my dismay, it did not appear to be available any more. Maybe the Kindles in color and with the backlight have cut into sales of the Verso light... but it's too bad. It's a great little gizmo for those of us who can't or do not want to upgrade!

So I bought one as a gift, and it suffered from the same problem as many other reviewers have mentioned: it works only when plugged in.So my conclusion is that it's a fantastic light, if you're lucky enough to receive a working one.
