I used this product to replace the "Mighty Mule" FM231 Driveway Alarm.Unlike the MM product, this senses with infrared, not sensing metal inductively. That means it is sensitive to cars, of course, but also people, animals, even fluttering leaves. I found the false triggers to be grossly excessive even with the sensitivity set to Low. I found I could cover over 90% of the sensor area with a piece of soda can, cut with scissors and affixed with hot-melt glue. With this configuration, vehicle detection was still robust (indeed, it even detected vehicles with 3 times less area than shown in the photo) but false triggers were gone.Another issue is sustainability of the product. The sensor/transmitter uses an 18650 Lithium cell, connected with wires. People without soldering skills will be unable to replace the battery when it fails. Batteries than last more than a decade are very rare, so I am expecting to have to replace this battery eventually. The receivers use prismatic (foil packet) batteries for which replacement sourcing might be difficult. It may be that these batteries are only needed for setup convenience, but it may be that they are required to maintain the pairing required for functionality in the event of a power failure.The range of the MM I used before was said to be 400' but was very marginal in my 100' installation without line of sight. This unit has way more range than I would ever need.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:This works better than I expected. I put this 115 feet at the end of my driveway with the receiver in my living-room to alert me when a person or car passes.

Yes, it works. We use this for our business. Set up was just OK. After 2 days, only real negative is false alarms. Best I can tell it’s from rain drops dripping from solar panel over the sensor. Still a good value for the money and I would buy again.

Was looking for something wireless and affordable to monitor when cars pull up to the drive thru. Was easy to install and has worked well so far with the motion detection. I liked that the outside unit was solar so I don't have to worry about changing batteries. Setup is easy. Just don't make the mistake I did off holding the long press for pairing until the lights flash. Just long press for a few seconds.
