These 7/8” tubing bases are flawlessly formed with a beautiful mirror polish. Testing with a magnet evidenced negligible magnetism, as would be expected with 316 stainless steel fittings. Note, mirror polished 316 stainless steel is highly corrosion resistant in a marine environment providing a beautiful finish season after season with nothing more than occasional light cleaning, in my long experience.Measurement of dimensions matched those in the listing. The bases fit the 7/8” tubing perfectly and all set screws ran smoothly. Although not needed for my purposes I like the fact that drainage holes are included since I don’t like trapping water in fittings installed on deck. If I were mounting these on deck I’d just wrap a little butyl tape around the screws leaving the fitting base void open to drain efficiently.While I have no doubt these fittings would serve well above deck I’m using them to replace a rusty old mild steel hanging rod in one of the hanging lockers on my boat. Little improvements like that are surprisingly gratifying. These fittings may be overkill for this installation but they will look great and serve well.
