My son typically wears size youth large (or 12-14), so we went with the large, but this top is WAY too big. It's hanging off him- no compression at all. We purchased the size large tights to go with it and they are almost too small in the thighs and waist (and my son is very slender)! So sizing is a bit of a challenge with this brand. The quality seems good- thick fabric, warm, and nice stitching- but I'd say this is more like an adult small or even medium than a youth large. So if your child usually wears a youth large, I'd go with the youth medium for sure.
