It is made of a high quality stainless and feels heavy. I really want to like these, and it was a HUGE step to drill holes in the outside of my boat, but I did. These did not come with any sort of instructions, but its fairly obvious how to install them. The bottoms are not flat they are a little convex, which may or may not be a good thing depending on where you want to mount them. I wanted them to go parallel with my pop-up cleats which did not align with the curvature which would be better running them up and down. I stuck double-sided tape to them to hold them in place and fill in the gaps underneath. I made sure not to infringe on the spring tab mechanism. I like that you cand just push these in and they snap into place and removal should be easy. I'm hoping over time the sticky one loosens up a bit. I am leary as to how long the springs and mechanisms hold up in these. Again, my fear is they fail, I lose a fender and now I'm stuck with 2 metal things on the side of my boat that serve no purpose or I pull them off and have to fill 4 holes. We'll see how they hold up. The best part is now I can hand a fender to anyone on the boat and they can instantly put them on whereas before I had to tie them on to the proper height and using the correct knot that most were not comfortable doing. Removing them is just as easy.

We're re-doing the Flying Bridge Bimini cover on our Mainship 34. Items like these quick release ends for the Bimini straps will make the new Bimini a lot quicker to put up and take down. With just the pull of a lever, the bimini strap is disconnected. And it looks really stylish too!
