This is a great tool to prevent boat engine cover from falling on your head during maintenance

Not used it yet. But I bought it to prevent my roof top tent collapse. . I had 8” of snow and tent poles collapsed on me. Solid product an easy to operate, so it should hold it in case it happens again.

I was suspicious of this design looking at the photo but gave it a try due to the positive reviews. It did not hold failed hood/trunk shocks without cranking down on it. And even then it would slip with a nudge or even just time. Maybe it needs rubber or something for the clamping surfaces. Do not trust this with your head underneath it.

Great useful little tool. Good build quality. It definitely looks better and more professional than using clamping pliers to hold them worn out engine hood support struts.

I leave the lift support right on the car.. there when I need it... cheaper than buying a cylinder... safer too
