First off I now own 5 ugly stick poles, so I do really like them.The action of their pole is heavier than I thought it would be. Built very well, my only concern is will it be as sensitive andy others. As long as it can throw 3,4,5 oz weights far in to the surf I will be happy. Update to follow.

Well, it's a good thing these Ugly Sticks are tough rods because Amazon shipped this to me completely unprotected aside from a very flimsy oversized cardboard box which showed signs of being retaped enroute. I could hardly believe the rod wasn't broken when I opened the carton. A small nick or two seems to be the worst of the damage it suffered.The rod is quite stout and a tad heavy, but not overly so, and the guides are functional looking, not my favorite but OK. One of the guides was wrapped a bit off center, but not enough to be a problem.I will update this when the rod gets fished, but for now it seems a good buy for the price. Made in China, but I don't think that's a big surprise to anyone. If you fish enough, you'll run into expenses getting the right gear, and sometimes it helps to be able to acquire a serviceable rod at a moderate price, which is exactly what this one looks to be.
