They are fine for shade but if it rains the cover will sag as it fills up with water and the weight doesn’t allow it to run off. I have to unhook one end every evening in case of rain and if I was away during the day, I would leave one end unhooked so that the water could drain off if it rained. I stopped using them.

Great for shading your backyard or patio. Comes with all necessary hardware and looks like it could stand up to our unexpected Canadian weather. Go for it!

Note that a 6.510’x6.5’ rectangle will give enough shade for a person (maybe two close) on a chair and a small table. But it is great for that situation. When we go camping and the sun is hitting hard, this sail is a great help, because we’re using it to protect the opening of the sliding door in our minivan. A shaded entry/porch area.It is very easy to attach to the eyelets, sawn to short stitched extensions. You can use the strings to attach to posts, trees, or vehicle. We got some guy ropes and two poles to help. I checked under strong sun, and one can see how the UV and the heat is being blocked. The material will not rip, even in medium winds. The eyelets are sewn well and I had no worries tightening the strings to flatten the sail. The product page doesn’t show that the sail is not one piece, see attached pictures, nor that the 6.5’ dimension is a bit short, and can be achieved only when stretched. The middle portion is smaller.
