This spreader costs about four times what the usual low end spreader costs. Here's why it's a better deal. When you assemble it, it's about like assembling a basic bicycle. Once you have it assembled, it performs so much better than the typical small spreader that you'll wonder why you might have considered buying a low-cost, low end spreader. Our original low end spreader (Scott's) had handles short enough that you had to bend over if you were more than 4 feet tall. This resulted in soreness very quickly. This spreader is sized for an adult to use, good even if you're six feet tall. This spreader can also distribute material more evenly, carry a larger load, and with its bigger wheels is much more capable of running along a surface without bumping and spilling the material. Leave the low end spreaders for children under 12 to use when helping.

First the good. This spreader is solid! It has a metal gear box with an enclosure that is easy to get into to service the gears. The pneumatic tires are great (although they are Chinese made). The height of the handle bars is great! No more slouching over to push a spreader. This is a plus and a negative. Due to the fact that you assemble the unit completely the control needs to be set. If it is set in the wrong position, you will not be putting out too much or too little product. The advantage though is you can truly calibrate the spreader to match let’s say a Scotts spreader rate or a Lesco spreader Rate. This is good because almost no product lists Agri-Fab spreader rates. I am having a hard time figuring out what settings to use and may need to adjust the calibration.Oh! And this thing is a monster. If you don’t have a lot of room in your garage for this thing, buy one of their smaller units. Now the negatives. The foot should have a rubber piece around it to protect it from getting scratched. As a result of not having this, just putting the thing down on the cement just once and the paint almost completely scratched off. That foot is probably going to rust real quick. There is no side deflector for this and the deflector that you can buy is kind of cheap and wraps around the whole base. The next model up that had a side deflector “Their Pro model” is $200 more than this model. Which is the same exact unit only different color and has the deflector and includes the grate and hopper cover).Putting it together is fairly easy although time consuming being that you have to put the entire thing together yourself and the directions although better than 90% or more still can get a bit confusing.I haven’t tried to put 130lbs of product into this but it filled up quite a bit with just one 25lb bag of Jonathan green Sunny mix seed. Being that seed is light though there is much more of it per pound I’m sure

l"épandeur est correcte, sauf qu'il est bruyant et il y a un pneu qui se dégonfle souvent.

It is a nice quality product. During assembly you can see that it is built like a tank. Some people using it to spread even salt at winter time.

Put 100 lbs of grass seed in it and it worked perfectly.Makes a huge difference having real tires on it and not plastic ones.

I bought this spreader for de-icing salt and gravel. It is much larger and sturdier than the ones that were available at my local big box store. It took about an hour to assemble and the instructions were decent but not great.I find that the agitator is much too small for this size spreader. It's just a coter pin so damp sand did not flow at all. Even with dry salt I needed to shake the machine a lot in order for the salt to flow. I would like to rig up something to vibrate the hopper while pushing the spreader. That would solve the problem but it will be a project for another day.My other criticism is that since there are no deflectors, an equal amount of product flies back at your legs as flies outwards. Not great if you don't like being cover with salt. All in all, this is a large sturdy spreader with a few flaws that Agri-Fab could probably solve quite easily.

Great push spreader! Much better quality than the cheap Scotts ones from the big box stores.Very well built, heavy duty and exactly as advertised. Used in a field setting. Only issue so far was that I was missing one bolt for assembly. Other than that it has been perfect.

Arrived in 2 business days. The following Saturday evening my wife and I removed all the parts from the box and laid them out across our living room floor and compared them to the parts list included with the instructions, everything was there. We gathered the tools as recommended for assembly, I also brought out a large rubber mallet, a 5lb hand sledge and some duct tape just in-case they were needed. We watched the YouTube videos (an overview & 3-4 shorter videos showing the assembly) this was as recommended in the instructions. We watched the videos on our phones and paused the video as we completed the assembly steps there in our living room. Total assembly time was 5 glasses of wine (three glasses for me and two for my wife) that would be about 90-105 minutes in non drinking time. Turned out there was no need for the sledge hammer or the duct tape. Used the rubber mallet to tap the hub caps onto the axle. Seemed that the lever controlling the sliding flow door on the bottom of the hopper wasn't closing completely, I was worried. I used the spreader today to apply granular weed & feed to our 3/4 acre lot (about 15K sq ft) no leaking from the hopper (she said not to worry!) the entire bag fit in to the large capacity hopper. The pneumatic tires were phenomenal, easy to push especially on the hilly terrain of our multilevel lot. The spread width was much wider than any of those cheaper priced green colored spreaders which we'd used in the past. I'm 6'3" and the larger wheels made this spreader stand higher meaning I wasn't hunched over while using it. My smaller sized wife (5'6") came out to try the spreader and she had no problems using this either. All in all it was well worth the price, I'm expecting this American Made Product to last longer than the less costly broadcast spreaders we've owned in the past. If you've read this far and only take away one thing from this review I'd hope it's WATCH THE VIDEOs POSTED ON-LINE, trust me, the assembly will be so much easier then reading the paperwork or doing "the man thing" and trying to assemble without reading the enclosed paperwork.

Product arrived in the original box about 30x30 without damage. We did extensive research on spreaders before deciding on the Agri-Fab 45-0462. The area to be covered by the spreader is between 10,000-15,000 sf of turf. The grass type is St. Augustine. We fertilize between 6-8 times per year as we are in Florida so durability of the spreader is important. The primary fertilizer we spread is Milorganite.Initial impressions: Unit arrived quickly without damage. Opening the package the product is shipped in pieces and packed sufficiently to reduce damage. The parts are of a substantial quality and the finish appears durable. The hopper is fairly large for ease of filling and the amount of material it can hold. The tires and wheels are fairly heavy duty. The frame coating and painted surfaces appear to be a powder coated steel with substantial thickness for durability.Assembly: Unit requires full assembly. You will need a socket set, small rubber mallet and needle nose pliers. Since the gear box is sent without grease you will need to take it apart to grease it. It is very easy to gain access to the inside of the gear box as it only involves 3 clips. I used synthetic grease for the gear box. It took me about 2 hours to assemble the unit and it was easy. You will want to spread all parts out first and review the diagram carefully. Follow instructions!Use: Spreader feels balanced and smooth during use. The spreader rate is very easy to use and change as it involves a wing nut with a calibration scale. I set mine at about 3 for the Milorganite. The spreader stops material sufficiently when you move the lever to off with no leaks. A clip rotates material in the hopper to prevent clumping. Material appears to spread evenly and is dependent on speed of the operator and the opening size. Unit is very easy to clean after use as all parts have sufficient clearance to clean properly. I use a garden hose and blow the unit off with a blower that is used on the driveway. Conclusion: The unit works extremely well and is well built for heavy use. It has no flimsy cable that either goes out of adjustment or break. Plan to take time to put it together. If you have basic hand tool skills this is a very easy task. If you don't take the time to construct the unit properly you will not have satisfactory results. Those of you looking for a well built mid grade spreader will be happy with this one. Remember to keep it clean. Take care of your tools they will take care of you.

I will revise this review if someone can easily resolve the problems I have with this spreader, but right now this is a one star product which is extremely disappointing given that it's nearly $200. Let me give a quick description of how this works first. A lever attaches to a metal rod that then attaches to a V shaped washer of sorts. That washer connects to another small rod that connects to the flap that opens/closes to allow product to fall down onto the spinning basket that throws the fertilizer. So here are the problems I am having (note that I have only used this so far to try to spread granule fertilizer which it's supposed to work well for):1) The flap that keeps product in or lets it out will not fully close without getting down and actually pushing it in with your hand. So essentially the lever on the handle doesn't work properly. I have tried to fix it by retightening the screws, messing with the rod and totally reassembling those parts to no avail. I figured if it was only open a tiny bit that it wouldn't matter but of course it's extremely annoying. If you have too much product in the spreader it's hard to lift it up to make sure it's not dropping fertilizer when it's not supposed to.2) The actual spreading mechanism does not work for me for some reason. No matter how fast I walk this thing isn't throwing any fertilizer past about where the wheels are. It's supposed to spread much further than that. Since I can't get the actual flapper to open to a correct position either it basically just dumped a trail wherever I was walking. I had to stop using this thing almost immediately and dump into my old Scott's spreader to finish the job.3) The pin used to hold the wheel in place is simply idiotic and the step in the instructions that shows how to assemble the wheels is not intuitive. I may have put that part together wrong and maybe that's the reason for all of my problems but I got the pin to go in and stay in place to make the spinning mechanism work. The problem is that I have the pin held in place by a GD rubber band because the pin doesn't actually hold in well. While the assembly process took me roughly an hour and that didn't bother me during the time I was doing it, the results after the fact have me incensed that I wasted so much time on it.4) Now I have to deal with shipping this monstrosity that doesn't work back, or have to go back to it again to try and somehow fix whatever its issues are.I really wanted this thing to work well, but it doesn't.
