I have attempted to use this card reader to transfer files from a CF Express card as well as XQD card. I have used the 2 supplied cables through USB 3 port as well as a USB - C high speed port. Every time I use it lately, the computer shows a message that the card reader has lost communication. This causes my Nikon transfer software to show no images. Product is less than 2 months old. I expect it to work. It doesn't. I suggest avoiding this one. I was fortunate to return this to Amazon because of their holiday extension period.

I received the Rocketek 8-in-1 memory card reader from Amazon at no cost, and no parties have influenced me on how to write this review. All opinions expressed are my own.My review is based on six criteria:1. Functionality: Does the product perform as advertised?2. Design: How well is the product designed for its intended functions?3. Quality: Is the product built with high-quality materials?4. Ease of Use: Does the product require special tools or knowledge for assembly? Is the user manual easy to follow?5. Durability: How long is the product likely to last?6. Value: Is the product reasonably priced for its utility? Each criterion will be rated on a scale from 1 to 5, with 1 being poor and 5 being exceptional. My recommendation is based on the average of these scores. Let’s begin!FunctionalityWhen I first used the product, a small plastic piece fell from the compact flash card slot (see attached picture). This piece was intended to guide the insertion of a compact flash card, which immediately raised concerns about the product's quality. Despite this, I proceeded to test the card reader with my MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and iPhone XR, and here is what I found:* MacBook Pro: The reader worked for SD cards, but the performance with compact flash cards was inconsistent. While the compact flash card was recognized initially, subsequent attempts to read it failed. Additionally, the card reader's ability to handle multiple memory cards simultaneously was unreliable, making me hesitant to trust it with my devices.* iPad Pro: The card reader could read SD cards but failed to access compact flash cards.* iPhone XR: The card reader was recognized by the device, but it could not read any memory cards, nor did any external folders appear in the Files app.I did not test the TF, XD, and MS cards because I do not use those formats. Given my experience, I rate the card reader a 2 for functionality.DesignThe card reader is lightweight and compact, making it easy to carry. However, the cable connecting the lightning/USB/USB-C connectors to the hub is plastic, which feels less durable than a nylon alternative. Additionally, the lack of a USB thumb drive reader is a missed opportunity. Although the design is practical in theory, its inconsistent performance hinders its overall usability. For design, I give it a 3.QualityWhile the aluminum exterior of the card reader feels sturdy, the plastic inside the memory card slots is concerning. The fact that a plastic guide broke upon first use makes it difficult to rate the product highly for quality. I give it a 3 for quality.Ease of UseThe card reader was meant to be a plug-and-play device, but its inconsistent performance with compact flash and SD cards made it more challenging to use than expected. Because of this issue, I rate it a 2 for ease of use.DurabilitySince I only recently received this product, I cannot fully assess its long-term durability. However, the broken piece raises doubts about its lifespan. I give it a 2 for durability.ValueThe card reader only works with SD cards and struggles with compact flash cards, which limits its value. While I may have received a defective unit that may not represent its performance ( considering the positive reviews from other users), I still find it hard to recommend this over similar, highly-rated alternatives available on Amazon. For value, I give it a 2.RecommendationWith an average score of 2.3, I would not recommend this card reader, especially given the wide range of reliable alternatives on Amazon.

It works mostly but having issues with my iPhone xs max. Not sure why but I think I found a work around. Had to buy an app for 6$ to be able to read from it.

Useful multi-card reader than plugs into many computers and devices and interfaces with many types of memory cards. Its about the size of a pack of playing cards with a built in short cable. The cable is natively USB-C but also has permanently attached adapters for USB 3.0 (USB-A) and Lightning (as in iPhones). It includes five slots for memory cards which are marked TF/M2, SD, MS, CF, and xD.

Multiple port reader. Easy to use. Plugs into computer. Fits great. Multiple card slots to read different items. Good for importing files or pictures to computer or from. I wish the cord was longer.

I was in need of a somewhat universal card reader for my Surface Pro. I had previously had one that is USB A, but with the advent of USB C and it becoming the new standard, I set out to find a modern card reader. This one did just fine. I don't have every kind of card it supports, but was happy with its plug-and-play usability with the SD and Micro SD cards I've tried so far. As I go through old family photos, I find various types of cards, and this thing will help me navigate that project without additional hardware. It is nice that it has a USB C to USB A adapter on the end, along with the Lighting adapter. I will not use the Lighting adapter, so snipped it off with some side cutters. All-in, I'd recommend this card reader. It just does what it should, and isn't visually intrusive.
