Replace this right support before replacing the lift motor and hydraulics on the left side. The right only takes two minutes to replace and is more often the problem of a sagging-when-open door problem.

The gas strut on my 2011 Chevy Equinox LT finally wore out, and I was determined to fix it myself. I initially ordered a cheaper strut, but it wasn't the right fit. This one worked perfectly, haven't had any liftgate issues since. As another review mentioned, you will need a second person to hold up the liftgate as high as possible while the new strut is being installed.

The power liftgate on my 2013 Chevy Equinox started sagging after opening so I called the dealer for an estimate to fix. Yikes! $1,000 to replace the power assembly and strut. He felt my pain and suggested I try just replacing the non power side. Amazon had exactly what I needed and it worked perfectly! Hatch opens as usual and the new strut is plenty strong enough to hold it open. YouTube has great videos on how to install this.

On the power lift rear hatch for our Equinox - having it bang on my head one too many time prompted me to look at replacing the strut. I only replaced the right rear side strut as the power strut on the left seemed to be doing as it should. Popping the clips off was easy and pulling off the old strut was not too difficult. BUT I do suggest having a second person holding up the heavy lift gate! putting the new strut on was fairly easy. put it on the body ball first then we lifted on the right corner of the lift gate and popped the strut on. with two people it all went well. used the remote to test opening and closing to be sure it now held up high. No longer slowly dropped down till it was either bumping your head or left long enough laying on your back!Good parts just work well!
