the real world transfer speed is about 30 mpsmaximum total write is 200 mbswhich is of course extremely slowthe hard drive is extremely loud i have 3 computers and I guarantee I would be able to hear this drive over EVERYTHING.I couldn't recommend this product, it isn't a gaming hard drive, it's great for security systems, or pictures, or music thats about it.would not recommend would not purchase again.the sata part of the drive seems non existent

Bought this HDD for gaming and for the price it was a steal. It can get pretty loud at times but that's to be expected for a HDD of this size and speed. Everything works as intended.

I got this on a sale a while back and it's absolutely worth it for PS5, games that take nearly 100GB can be moved onto it or back from it very quickly so you reinstall games very conveniently. It's way faster and more efficient than redownloading games from the internet as some games take so long to download and default PS5 storage can't hold a lot.

I'm a WD Black fan. I own a WD Black NVME PCIe 4.0 drive. I've owned many WD Black SATA HDD's in various sizes. I purchased them for the performance and reliability. This is the first WD Black drive I've encountered with a problem out of the box. The drive worked but it had this tick every 8 seconds upon startup of the PC and then extended to every 16 seconds as time progressed. This happened all the time, whether or not the drive was being accessed or not. It was also the loudest WD Black Drive I've used. I called WD Canada and they said the drive was defective and that the sound indicated a failure was imminent.I ended up switching to a 6 TB Seagate Barracuda instead which was lower in cost and whisper quiet in comparison. The WD Black is a better drive for gaming but is significantly louder and costlier. The Cuda is fast for small files but once the Barracuda's large cache fills up, the write performance lows drops to 5 MB/s or slower until the cache dumps to the disk. On large file writes like 150 GB of music files, the lows happen a lot more often than I'd like. The WD Black never drops anywhere near these lows and runs in a pretty tight range from the highs. Great consistent performance. My use case for this drive is music and pictures so not a problem for me and I do appreciate the low noise.
