Product Description

tunai fierfly chat bluetooth receiver adapter car audio aux usb microphone mic call handsfree hands

Great sound and hands-free calls in a tiny USB package!

Looking for an authentic HiFi Bluetooth listening experience in your car? Want to cut the cord without sacrificing music quality? FIrefly Chat LDAC is exactly what you are looking for, a powerful Bluetooth music receiver packed in a compact USB size. There is even a built-in microphone which supports hands-free calling.

Certified as High-Res audio by Japan Audio Society (JAS), it streams the most original and highest quality music via Bluetooth from your smartphone or tablet using SONY LDAC technology for Android or AAC codec for iOS. An additional audiophile 127dB SNR DAC is also used to preserve all the details, delivering original sound with minimal distortion.

Equipped with the latest Bluetooth 5.0 chipset for stable connection, Firefly Chat LDAC is the perfect choice for iPhone, iPad and Android devices who are looking for the best-in -class Bluetooth music quality.

Note: If your car does not have a USB port, we recommend using a 5V car adapter from a reputable brand to avoid damaging both your phone and Firefly LDAC.

sony ldac dac premium sound quality streaming

Why do you need LDAC? Because it is the Highest quality wireless audio streaming standard currently available

Most Bluetooth receivers support only the most basic low quality SBC codec, which is less than ideal for music streaming, resulting in noticeable distortion in sound quality. Firefly Chat LDAC is one of the very few receivers on the market that the supports SONY LDAC technology, streaming high-resolution audio over Bluetooth connection at 24-bit/96kHz and 990kbps transmission rates (vs Qualcomm’s aptX at 352kpbs, aptX HD at 576kbps and SBC at 320kbps).

iOS devices, as well as a few others, implement AAC over Bluetooth, making the Firefly LDAC a must have for iPhone and iPad users who want to get the most out of their speakers and car audio systems.

*Note: Your Android device will also need to support LDAC (e.g. Android 8.0 or up). Please check with your phone manufacturer for details before purchase.

ground loop isolator hissing dac distortion

Built in ground loop isolator & additional DAC to eliminate all noises and distortion

No more hissing and humming sounds

The static noise from cars is always an annoying and major complaint when using Bluetooth receivers, and requires the use of an additional ground loop isolator (typically costing you an additional 10 dollars or more). We heard you - and agree that you deserve a noise-free listening experience. The addition of a built-in ground loop isolator (without increasing the size from original Firefly Chat) removes 99% of the hissing and humming noise interference produced by the car. Simply use the TUNAI Connect App to switch the function on and truly enjoy the beat.

Additional 127dB SNR DAC from Cirrus Logic minimizes distortion:

DAC stands for signal-to-noise converter, and is one of the key factors that decides the output sound quality. Most Bluetooth receivers use the DAC integrated inside the Bluetooth chip, which is insufficient for high quality audio, usually resulting in muddy and blurry sound with a high noise floor. The additional 127dB SNR DAC from Cirrus Logic is one of the most advanced high performance DACs available, and provides superior conversion with more authentic, rich and clearer quality of music. Enjoy an enhanced listening experience that allows you to distinguish different sounds and instruments and notice finer details.

smart auto on auto connect

The Firefly Chat LDAC starts up when it gets powered, —no ON button needed!

Your phone will automatically reconnect with the Firefly Chat LDAC in most circumstances, and it can remember up to 8 different phones.

no charging

Never charge it, and no more worries about the battery failing. The Firefly Chat LDAC gets power from USB, and thanks to its super efficient electronics, it only takes a tiny amount of power! (approx. 20mW)

sharing between two phones

TWO phones or tablets can be connected with Firefly Chat LDAC at the same time so you can play music from either one. Simply pause the first device and play from the second—it’s that easy. Firefly Chat LDAC also remembers up to 8 devices.

customization app

TUNAI CONNECT App, available in iOS and Android, offers customized EQ settings, ground loop isolator settings, firmware upgrades and more!

Note: If you are experiencing issues with Firefly Chat LDAC, make sure to update the firmware via app first as it might solve the issue in a minute for you!

FAQ

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please remember to UPDATE THE FIRMWARE FIRST if you have any issues, this might solve the problem you have right away. For Android 12 users, Google has made some changes over BLE and you might not be able to connect to our TUNAI connect app. In this case, you can use another mobile device not running Android 12 to update Firefly Chat LDAC to the newest firmware, and you will be able to use your Android 12 device with our TUNAI Connect app.

  • How can I improve the sound quality if it seems distorted, especially on loud bass?

If the sound is muddy, turn down the volume on your phone, and up on the car stereo. If there is a humming and hissing sound (ground loop noise), turn on the “ground loop noise cancellation” option on TUNAI Connect App.

  • Firefly Chat LDAC is connected but there is no sound, what should I do?

As there are two connections that might show up on your Bluetooth list (one for the app and one for the sound), make sure to check on your Bluetooth list and connect to all items showing as “TUNAI FIREFLY CHAT LDAC”.

  • Sometimes the Firefly Chat LDAC doesn’t reconnect to the phone or the connection is not stable. What can I do?

‘Forget’ all devices from your phone’s Bluetooth menu, restart the phone, and pair with the Firefly Chat LDAC again. If you are experiencing unstable Bluetooth connection, make sure you update the firmware via TUNAI Connect App.

  • Call quality and music quality aren’t the same. Is this normal?

The Bluetooth standard works with call audio and music audio differently. For calls, Bluetooth uses a lower quality processing technique to ensure maximum reliability. For music, on the other hand, quality takes precedence over reliability. You will therefore notice a difference if you switch from music to a call!

  • How do I know if my device supports LDAC? How do I know if it is on?

Any Android with 8.0 (Oreo) or up supports SONY LDAC codec. LDAC usually needs to be manually activated in most cases. Please check your phone user manual for how to turn on LDAC for your model.

  • How does ‘party mode’ (multiple device connection) work?

When party mode is turned on, TUNAI Connect App and two devices are connected to Firefly Chat LDAC. Whichever device that starts playing the music or receives audio notifications will become the main output device. When one phone is playing music, we suggest putting the other phone on mute/pause other audio media to avoid disruption.

Audio often starts sketching when your phone is like 4-5 feet away. Sounds good, but only really useful if your phone is literally right beside it.

I’m sure the Firefly would work fine in other cars, but if you’re a Gen 2 BMW Mini owner (R56, R60 etc.) it’s an ideal way to play music via a Bluetooth connection in the car.Minis have a USB and 3.5 aux in port that sit side by side so the Firefly could have been designed for this reason.I purchased the Firefly purely to use for Spotify and other Android app playback, so the telephony aspect of the Firefly is less important for me. I have found that the regular BT connection for telephony in the Mini works fine, even with the Firefly connected. The Firefly connects very easily and once set up will remember your phone. It will continue to work with the engine off, so if you stop the car playback can continue. The only thing lacking is the ability to control app playback from the car steering wheel. The same applies to Android Auto as your phone won’t recognise that it’s being used in a vehicle unless navigating. This is not a criticism of the Firefly, more an observation of what this kind of device is capable of facilitating in a Mini. The Firefly is more expensive than other options on the market, but for quality of playback and neatness of installation in the Mini I think it’s worth the additional cost.

I bought this on a FB group recommendation. My Fiat 500 doesn't play music from my phone. So I thought I would try this adapter. Only the background singers came through. The sound was extremely tinny.

This is basically the ultimate bluetooth car dongle: the LDAC support is great, and it sounds excellent given the nature of the product. Some volume loss is to be expected, and if you crank up your non-bluetooth head unit it's going to affect sound quality (ie noise: less than you think though. It all depends on how much of an audiophile you think you are).So this is basically for two kinds of people: old-school car hi-fi nuts that don't want to let go of their fancy head unit from the glory days of car stereo, or people who didn't want to change the radio in their car and found some workaround like line-in preamps or something along those lines to make their vehicle sound better (I'm in the latter category).Any other type of end-user would be better off with different products. If you're planning an overhaul of your car stereo and can/want to change the head unit, either get one with bluetooth for calls (and calls only) or splurge for an Android Auto/CarPlay one, which you can use to play your hi-fi music services off your phone (Tidal, Apple Music, Amazon HD all offer high resolution music). If you think of using this with your stock car stereo system, you're wasting money, you'll never hear the difference. Get the non-LDAC one from Anker or something, it's great. The product itself: the 3.5 mm cord is flat and flexible, but also short (it comes with an extension though). I would have preferred a thicker one. Is this hi-fi or what? Anyway, it's like 4 inches so it shouldn't matter too much. The sound quality is very good though. I agree that some low frequencies seem to be missing, but nothing some quick EQ tweaking can't fix. It may be too early for a comprehensive sound review, but I can't complain for now.The software part will give you a headache: you have to install an app to tweak settings like EQ, and the dongle needs to pair with the app... but if you want to actually hear any sound, you have to pair your phone to the other TUNAI Firefly Entry in your nearby bt peripherals list... why?? Plus the app is laggy. Now, other, more renowned brands have poor software issues (Sony, Sennheiser...) but this is truly next level! Please do something about it. The silver lining is that once you're satisfied with the tweaking, the pairing happens automatically and very quickly. The call quality is okay, nothing to write home about, but it has to be considered just an addition. If calls are your priority and you don't care much about music, go for cheaper products. The 5-star rating is for the price, and encouragement to do better! (or for competition to wake up)
