Excellent value for price. Works as described. As other reviewers have said, the instructions for use could be improved. The viewing screen does not display picture colors very well. The resulting copies made are much better than the monitor screen would indicate. As others said, any editing of the picture should be done on computer rather than the screen on copier. However I am very pleased with the results.

Easy to use with crystal clear results, this scanner has given new life to a collection of 35mm slides, many of them dating back over 50 years. The resulting JPEG images were used to create a DVD slideshow, copies of which I've given to family members. They, like me, could not be more pleased. While having good memories can be comforting, seeing them photographically is a revelation.(As other reviewers have cautioned, the scanner requires an SC memory card which is not provided. Though inexpensive, about $13, and widely available, it's unfortunate that one is not included with the scanner.)

Good for "quick and dirty scans" of slides and negatives. Came very close to sending back to Amazon, however for the low cost of $60 bucks, decided not to bother returning, and simply to keep it. The scans look very grainy to me, but suffice for average work. Did I say that I am pretty fussy? Because I am. Will look for a higher resolution scanner at greater cost, mostly because I will not invest a lot of time scanning negatives and slides just to obtain mediocre results. Scanning of old slides and negatives has just become a low priority for me, until I locate a higher resolution capability scanner.

Product was delivered promptly and in one piece. Light and small and very easy to store away in a drawer when not in use. There is no SD card included but that should not be a surprise to people who read the product description carefully. Any spare SD card you already have from a digital camera will work. Instructions are not quite as useless as some people have said but they could be better especially on the topic of how to get into the sub menus and choose the SLIDE scan option as opposed to the negative scan. People who have complained about garish colors in their scan most likely did not manage this. Every time you shut the device down it has to be reset to the scan style you want which is a bit of a pain. However I have used it successfully to scan many slides in a lot less time than my fancy desktop scanner. Loading them in the plastic holder takes some time but this is offset by the very quick scanning time. You can sit wherever you are most comfortable as you scan because you are not tied to a computer until you actually want to transfer the images from the SD card. I found that putting them onto my iPAD (through the Apple SD connector) to crop and edit them first was a good intermediate step but most computers also have an SD card slot you can use to transfer directly to a desktop if you prefer. I would say the scan quality pretty well reflects the quality of the originals in most cases. I experimented first with the white balance and found a setting I liked for indoor scenes and one for outdoors. Once again this requires some patience dealing with the sub menus. Like most people who mention "figuring it out fairly quickly" I just played with the buttons until I got the right combination of moves. If you use other technology well and intuitively you will manage this. If you need instructions from your grandchildren on how to use your tablet, then you probably will be frustrated by this little gadget.

It's hard for me to express how disappointed I was with this product. The package arrived without a flash card (though it says in the manual that one is included). It was quite hard to figure out how to use it; the device is made in China and the manual is written in a kind of English that feels as if it was run through Google translator ' a lot of misused words, meaningless jargon and poor instructions. I eventually learned how to use it by employed the tried-and-true hit-and-miss method of just trying everything until it works. Just one example: Nowhere in the manual does there appear an illustration of the device with the various buttons, etc. numbered and described. That's a pretty basic omission. Worst of all, when copying slides, the colours came out garish and oversaturated to the point of uselessness. One more thing: My MacBook Pro won't read it, despite downloaded applications. I can't tell for certain, but that makes me think this is for PC only. All in all, I advise people to give this a miss.

I had approximately 1700 slides to scan. It took me several sittings and several weeks to complete. It was a bit tricky to figure out the settings for scanning the slides, and every time you restart it, you need to reset it. The item actually stopped working while I was finishing up my project. (would not turn on again) I wasn't too upset. If I needed to scan more slides, I would likely look elsewhere for a different product. The end quality of the pics was just "ok" too, but good enough for what I needed.

I am having fun using this new gadget. I do a lot of restoring old photos using photoshop. I had someone asking me to scan their slides and I called around to the photo labs I use, one stated they could do so for $10 a slide! It was decided I would purchase this and try to scan them and touch them up if needed. I haven't had a problem with instructions as other reviewers seem to have had. I can see how it can be a bit time consuming, but the slide holder and actual unit seem fairly straight forward and sturdy. I scanned a color slide that was over 30 years old and I was happy to see this old picture come through nicely. I then took a negative that is only 6 years old and I began to feel not quite as thrilled over this scanner. It does a decent job, but with the 6 year old negative I do have the photo to compare, and the digital image cannot compete. The scans have quite a bit of noise and are not up to a resolution that I would like for them to be. BUT-- for the price, and if you do not have the time or capability to send off slides or negatives that otherwise do not have a photo or digital copy, this will work with decent results. I will have to edit once I have seen a printed copy of a photo scanned from the slides/negatives. It's a fun tool to play around with to view something you would otherwise hold up to the light to only see a small or negative image.

Bought the item with high expectations but found the image quality not up to the mark. If had known before i would have have gone for a better scanner.

This is a wonderful scanner. It is easy to use and the conversion time is fast--two seconds at most per slide.I found myself adopting a simple pattern of loading, scanning and unloading slides, making the process even quicker. Before long, had converted 100 slides. The SainSonic FS-02 is perfect for anyone who needs to convert a large amount of slides (or negatives) in a short period of time. I am delighted by its performance.

Looking for a way to share and keep old slides, I came across this nifty gadget on Amazon. It scans well enough, is easy to handle and now I have picture to share with family and friends that would have required a projector. It did the trick for not too much money. Caution: it claims to have a built in memory but constantly asks for an SC card, so I bought one. This is also an easy way to upload the photos to any computer regardless of operating system.

If you have old negatives and don't have any clue what they are about this is the right tool!I bought this gadget for the simple reason that I have too many 35mm negatives and I needed something that would allow me view them really quick and to view them as "positive" images. This unit is small, it works without having to connect it to a computer and for the purpose of just viewing images all you need to do is to slide the negative film strip directly into the slot, really simple and quick; you don't even need the mounting frame that comes with the unit for that purpose but you will need the attached frames if you want to view slides or if you want to scan either slides or negatives. If you want to use it to scan and save images it is really simple to operate, just click on the shutter on top and that's it they are saved to you SD card. The resolution and quality of the scanned pictures is decent but not great. If you want high resolution or higher quality pictures then you need a high end scanner, but at least with this unit you can save time by choosing what you want to bring to the high end scanners which are usually more tedious to operate or if you want a quick print from a negative or slide, this is the tool to have.

This is very useful equipment for copying and converting negatives to positives. It also copies 35 mm slides and this is converted to printable photos. It can be used without the computer as the files are copied to memory card. These can be transferred to the computer anytime. The photos are of good quality and it is fastI have found it to be very useful and have already copied hundreds of my old negatives and slides..
