I was hesitant to purchase the rocket socket extractors given the price and the fact that I only needed it for a single rounded out fastener but I am glad that I did. A wrench slipped on this stubborn 10mm fastener and began to round it out. A friend of mine attempted to use his "Maximum" extractor from Canadian tire and it did not work. The Rocket Socket got the fastener out without problem which was a pleasant surprise considering the fastener was almost a circle at this point. I hammered it on and the tapered design really helped grip into the fastener. You'll see the burrs left behind by the teeth as they truly do cut into the metal and latch on. Very happy I made this purchase

Bought this set only because I could get it same-day delivery. I had just stripped the bolt head on my AC Compressor and had to get it out. 14mm bolt, so I hammered on the 9/16 14mm bit, grabbed my breaker bar, and the bolt came out like it was nothing. No visible damage after use, so I see this lasting a good time.

The 14mm extractor fit fine and grabbed the bolt tight. However, the thing snapped in half the first time I pulled on it. I didn't put that much torque on it. Cheap metal. I am surprised as this had overall good reviews and was more costly than many others. It might work fine if only gipping the bolt was the issue. But if the bolt is tight or rusted on, forget about this tool getting the job done.

I used these to remove two stuck cylinder head bolts. I had tried everything -- penetrating oil, heat, and many good whacks with my 9 pound sledge, and they were still stuck fast. I had another set of bolt extractors and they were useless. Even an impact wrench wouldn't move these bolts, and I wound up rounding off the bolt heads pretty good. I received the set this morning, and I had those bolts out in less than five minutes, and most of that time was finding my tools! The socket I used still looks brand new, not a mark on it. These stuck bolts had stopped me cold for several days. This set is a lifesaver. Thanks!

About a week ago, I decided to change the oil in my 2017 Subaru. I usually do this job myself, but the last time the car was due for an oil change I was out of town, so my wife took the car in to a local shop instead to get the oil changed. Flash forward to the present, and I crawled under the car to find that the shop had 1) stripped the 14-mm drain plug, and 2) re-installed the plug with so much torque that I couldn't get the thing to budge AT ALL (I think they probably used a pneumatic impact wrench). After about two hours of cursing, all I had managed to do was to mangle the plug even more. I tried using my adjustable-length breaker bar (which is kinda tricky to get seated straight), and this only made matters worse.I finally gave up and decided to pry open my wallet and fork over the money to get a bolt-extractor kit. I searched around, read some articles, etc., and decided that it was worth it to get a set that I knew would be made using ACTUAL hardened steel (i.e., good ol' AMERICAN steel), and not some "off-shore" knock off that would break the first time I used it. So I opted for a "starter" kit from RocketSocket.I was worried that the 9/16" socket in the kit might be too big for my mangled 14-mm bolt head, but this was not the case. The socket went on snugly. I gave the socket a couple taps with a small hammer, and it was on -for good-. I tried pulling it off, and it wouldn't come off. This was EXACTLY what I wanted, because I needed a good snug grip on the drain plug while I attached and positioned the breaker bar.I attached the breaker bar and first tried turning the plug with the bar at its minimum length of 14". The plug didn't move. So, I set the breaker bar to its max length of 24" and started cranking. Almost immediately there was a loud *crack*, and the bar suddenly turned easily. At first I thought the socket might have just slipped off the plug, but when I detached the breaker bar from the socket, the socket stayed attached to the plug - and the plug was loose - I could turn it with my fingers!!!The relief was (and is) palpable. It is simply -amazing- how much easier the job was with this RocketSocket bolt extractor. I think I'll probably get the expander kit now.BTW, I replaced the plug with a new 17-mm bolt; hopefully this will help avoid similar problems in the future (although I now have a solution if I do!).

Definitely does it job well, they grab bolts HARD. Problem is that they get mangled very fast it seems like, i wasn't even using it on hardened steel just an oil pan drain bolt and it has very noticeable damage to the socket. Think i like the Irwin ones better they seem to hold up better but not grab quite as hard and are pretty cheap.
