Signs of a failed blend door actuator
Clicking sound: If adjusting the temperature in the car causes repeated and continuous clicking sounds, you may need to replace a blend door actuator. This sound usually comes from under the dashboard.
Knocking sound: This is one of the common symptoms of a failed blend door actuator; it sounds like someone knocking on the door.If you hear this sound, it will be most obvious after the vehicle is started.
Unstable temperature changes: The temperature in your car should remain at the temperature you set.If you notice that the temperature inside your car is unstable, or it blows hot and cold air alternately without turning the knob, then you may need to replace your blend door actuator with a new one.
Unpredictable airflow: Make sure not only that the air temperature remains constant, but also that the air flows out of the designated vents. If the airflow inside your car changes without your input and flows out of different vents from time to time, then the blend door actuator is likely the culprit.
Incorrect temperature: This is one of the common symptoms of a malfunctioning blend door actuator. If the temperature inside your car doesn't heat up as expected, the air conditioner doesn't blow out cold air, or the temperature inside your car is too high or too low, then the problem is most likely with the blend door actuator.
